Internship Details

I, Swayamjit Roy (19LLB077) interned at Abhinav Vashisht’s (Senior Advocate)

Chamber during the 1st Semester of my degree course at The NorthCap University
while pursuing degree of B.B.A L.L.B (Hons.).

I started my internship from December 6, 2019 till December 23, 2019.

During my internship with Mr. Abhinav Vashisht I was supervised by his Personal
Assistant Mr. Rakesh and The Assistant Associate at the firm Ms. Akshita.

During my internship I would travel everyday from my house in Dwarka to

Defence Colony and reach the office sharp at 10 am.

While at the office my tasks used to entail reading case files, reading law books
and doing research work for the preparation of the case drafts. I also had the
opportunity to sit during some of the conferences that took place between the
advocate and the clients, during these conferences I understood how case briefings
happen and how a lawyer simplifies the legal drafts and understands the facts of
his case and forms his arguments for his clients. I was also advised to maintain
confidentiality and not share the details of any activity that was discussed within
the premises of the firm to anyone, not even to my parents.

While at the office I was personally mentored by all the members in the office and
taught how to find relevant case laws from relevant sections as well as identifying
which book is to be referred to for the case at hand. While my internship at the
firm I read parts of the following books:

 Injunctions (The Indian Contract & Special Relief Acts)

 The Hindu Succession Act,1956
 The Hindu Succession Act,2005
 Coparcenary Property – Mitakshara Law
From the office I would frequently visit The High Court of Delhi, National
Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) and National Company Law Appellate Tribunal
(NCLAT) where I would have to get a temporary pass made every day and gain
access to the courtrooms. Inside these courtrooms I would observe and understand
the practical day-day functioning of the courts as well as understand slangs and
terminology used in these courtrooms. I gained insight knowledge on what it feels
like to be a lawyer in this current day and age.

On my every visit to the High Court, I would have to check on the official High
Court website the Name and Item Number of the case that the lawyers of my firm
were representing and once I would arrive at the High Court I would have to figure
out which court room number I had to go and sit , although I had the freedom to go
and sit in any courtroom and observe and understand what was happening in that
particular case.

During the initial days of my internship, I was very nervous as I had never actually
worked in a professional environment. Before joining the firm, I had certain
preconceived notions about what actually happens in a serious work environment.
But after a couple of days I came to the conclusion that the work environment that
I was working at was pretty laid back and individualistic, where anyone at the
office had the freedom to do what they wanted as long as their work is completed
on time, which was ideal for me as I got the time to read law books and interact
with the people working in the firm and ask them questions about law and working
as a professional.

Towards the end of my internship, I started to understand the routine of the firm
and became one with the office and developed a schedule and started working
efficiently.

However, since the internship duration during the 1 st semester was limited and the
courts were closed from Christmas till the New Year. I finished my Internship in 2
Weeks. While those 2 weeks felt longer, I learned a lot and am grateful for the
opportunity I was provided.

Internship Details
I, Swayamjit Roy (19LLB077) interned at SMX PLC Automation India Ltd.
during the 2nd Semester of my degree course at The NorthCap University while
pursuing degree of B.B.A L.L.B (Hons.).

I started my internship from August 15th till September 15th

During my Internship at SMX PLC Automation India Ltd. I was supervised by

Mr. Sarbajit Roy (Proprietor) and I was supervised by his Personal Assistant
Mr. Mahfooz.

During my internship I would travel everyday from my house in Dwarka to

Defence Colony and reach the office sharp at 10 am.

While at the office my tasks mainly entailed scheduling Mr. Sarbajit Roy’s
clients and organizing his client call timings, understanding Search Engine
Optimization (SEO) and helping the company stay at the top of specific key
terms relevant to the search queries for the business.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, most of the company’s business shifted from
offline meetings to online zoom calls and phone calls. Therefore, I was assigned
the duties of emailing the clients and understanding their schedule and making
timely appointments. I was also advised to keep check of old clients and send
follow up emails to check their receptiveness.

During my internship, I also learnt about Google AdWords (which is paid

advertising) to increase brand awareness of the company and help reach
targeted customers. I would learn about managing paid campaigns and making
budgeting decisions on specific keywords.

While at the office, I also learned the importance of transparency and lack of
traditional hierarchal forms of communication, where most employees were
free to communicate with each other and could speak honestly with the intent to
express and not to impress.
While at the office, I may not have learnt the skills directly relating to law but I
believe I learnt the overall qualities that are required in a candidate for any job
which to my observation primarily included dedication to the job, honoring the
commitment that you have made to the company, honesty and transparency in
the organization and doing your job whole heartedly without an ego.

During these tough and unpredictable times I would like to extend my complete
gratitude to Mr. Sarbajit Roy and all the other employees at SMX PLC Pvt. Ltd.
for this opportunity.

Internship Details
I, Swayamjit Roy (19LLB077) interned at ORGAN India during the 4 th
Semester of my degree course at The NorthCap University while pursuing
degree of B.B.A L.L.B (Hons.).

My Intership started from 7 April 2021 and is still going on till this date.

During my internship, as it was during peak covid time, it was an online and
work from home based internship. So, I used to receive tasks and had to
complete them within due time.

My tasks would usually require me to create content around the topics of

creating awareness around Organ donation and transplantation in India.
I would conduct interviews, create radio show episodes, and handle social
media account activities such as managing the official Facebook and YouTube
pages of the organization.

I was also made to travel for the various civil as well as public hospitals to
integrate IEC (Information, Education and Communication) material in their
premises.

I also had to attend as well as conduct both online and offline awareness
sessions for organ donation and transplantation in Delhi and outside as well for
example Panchkula, Rohtak etc.

This internship helped me understand and become aware of the major issue of
the lack of awareness and knowledge amongst the average Indian when it
comes to Organ donation and Transplantation, most people are not aware of the
laws and procedures that are required to be followed by them relating to organ
donation.

I noticed a heavy disconnect between people’s perception about organ donation

where they would believe nonsensical myths and have an ill view towards the
topic and would often indulge in seeking illegal means to attain their goal, for
example I have received numerous requests of people in need requiring to
purchase human organs which I would have them know is illegal.

I, Swayamjit Roy (19LLB077) interned at Fortis Healthcare Ltd. during the 5 th
Semester of my degree course at The NorthCap University while pursuing
degree of B.B.A L.L.B (Hons.).

My Intership started from 13th September 2021 till 12th October 2021.

During my internship, I was tasked with conducting many legal research based
activities. I had to actively create case reports and summaries of medico-legal
cases which I would submit to my senior for further drafting.

I had to summarize the Transplantation of Human Organs and Transplantation

of Human Organs and Tissues Rules, 2014 and highlight the scope, jurisdiction
and penalties for the act.

I had to conduct research on various medical authorities as well and highlight

the powers and jurisdiction as well as find out the names of the representatives
who would be designated for appeals.

I was also tasked by my seniors to study landmark medico legal cases and
create a presentation to explain to my seniors what I understood from the case.

I was tasked to proof read existing drafts made by my seniors as well read prior
cases that the organization was involved in.

The majority of my cases were consisting of patients or the insurance

companies on behalf of the patients seeking redressal for grievance faced by the
patients. It was our job as the legal department to minimize the expenditure of
the organization and protect the sanctity of the doctors and the hospital.

It was a really high pressure and taxing internship, but I’m grateful for my
seniors to have given me the chance to be a part of the team.
