In the 1970s, a psychologist by the name of Noel Burch described the four steps we go through when
learning a new skill.
I have seen myself go through each stage on my journey to get to the point where I can now coach
people through this same process.

Unconscious Incompetence

This stage is characterized by not knowing how to interact with women effectively.

You also don’t recognize the problem. You might incorrectly believe you know what you are doing or
have what it takes. People at the level of unconscious incompetence deny the usefulness of the skill.

“Why do you need to learn to speak to women?”

“It’s something natural, just be yourself!”

These are also the same guys that never go out, they sit at home alone scrolling through social media
and find no purpose in their monotonous lives.

To get past this stage you must start taking action to recognize your incompetence and the importance
of the new skill in your life.

Conscious Incompetence

Conscious incompetence is the stage at which you understand the importance of learning social skills and
improving your emotional intelligence. Also, you can identify the impact it can have on your life and
those around you.

This stage, however, usually results in being confused and overwhelmed; you consume a lot of content
but aren’t able to understand and fully implement it.

When you flirt are always told;

“It’s a girl’s night.”

“I have a boyfriend.”

“Go away.”

“I’m not interested.”

At this level, you will make the most mistakes and see the most progress.

Conscious Competence

At this level, you can effectively meet and attract women into your life. You understand the principles and
psychology behind the actions of yourself and others. However, you need a lot of concentration and
consistent effort. People that are critical of technical game only see this step. They feel that you shouldn’t
have to try to succeed. The real key is to take this level of game to unconscious competence.

Unconscious Competence

Unconscious competence is where the Ultimate Man Project instructors reside and the level that a lot of
our students have reached. They can ‘naturally’ interact and build attraction with stunning women. Even if
you are a guy that isn’t effortlessly charismatic or ‘born with it,’ with enough conscious effort and the
right guidance, you can also attain this teachable and learnable skill.
