CHAPTER I

INTRODUCTION

Public market in the Philippines is commonly seen as an open structure. It

is always referred to as Palengke derived from the Spanish word Palenque

meaning wooden palisade and stockade (Diccionario de la lengua española,

2001). It is a very important establishment located mostly at the center of the

community and it is the reliable sources of revenue for locals in the Philippine

governmental units like cities, municipalities, and barangays. Public market

income makes up a substantial percentage of the total gross revenue produced

from all sources in several towns.

For many years, the Carigara Public Market in Carigara, has served as an

important center for trade and business in the area, offering a convenient site for

purchasing and selling goods and services. Recognizing the importance of the

market to the community. The researchers have proposed a redevelopment

study aimed at modernizing and revitalizing the market. The goal of this study is

to create a vibrant, modern market that meets the needs of both vendors,

customers, and stakeholders that serves as a catalyst for economic growth and

development in the area.

This study aims to explore the proposed redevelopment project proposal

from an architectural perspective, analyzing its design features and evaluating its

potential impact on the local economy and community. By examining the

proposed redevelopment project in detail, this study seeks to provide insights

3

and recommendations for a successful implementation that meets the needs of

vendors, customers, stakeholders and the community as a whole.

Background of the Study

Philippine public markets are frequently described as being disorganized,

filthy, and having a dark, musty atmosphere. The sudden drop in patronage at

public markets caused by their deteriorating conditions and lack of support

facilities (Nedic, 2013), which prompted the construction of modern supermarkets

and hypermarkets with fully conditioned interiors that encourage convenience

shopping and have quickly gained in popularity.

Carigara is a very humble town, but there has been a lot of progress in the

past few years, and even before that, it was very progressive, especially since it

is in the center of the northern part of Leyte, so it's the central business district.

Many businesses are employing here, so other surrounding towns really come

here for their basic needs.

The Carigara public market provides a significant source of income for

many local vendors and sells a wide range of products and services, including

fresh produce, fish, meat, and home goods. Yet, the market has had several

problems recently, including overcrowding, a narrow parking lot, poor sanitation,

and a lack of amenities, which has led to a decline in vendor and customer

satisfaction.
4

The researcher’s proposal for redevelopment plan for the Carigara Public

Market in Baybay was to solve such difficulties and increase the market's ability

and to promote community livelihoods and economic growth. The proposed plan

involves several adjustments to the market's physical layout, amenities, and

management procedures, all of which are intended to improve the market's

operation with a wide parking lot and cleaner facility to attract more marketgoers

and for future investors.

The purpose of this study is to examine at the reconstructing of the

Carigara Public Market in Brgy. Baybay, Carigara Leyte, a study in terms of

increasing market functionality and community livelihoods. This paper will

specifically determine the primary reasons of the Carigara Public Market's

existing inefficiencies and deficiencies in Brgy. Baybay, Carigara Leyte. Assess

the proposed redevelopment plan's ability to address the stated concerns while

also improving the market's operation and appeal. Assess the requirements and

preferences of local vendors and customers and examine the possible impact of

proposed changes on these stakeholders. And provide suggestions for the

planned redevelopment plan's execution that are in line with the requirements

and preferences of the local community.

This study aims to contribute to a better understanding of the challenges

facing public markets in the Philippines and to provide valuable insights for

policymakers and stakeholders alike by proposing a sustainable design for the

redevelopment of Carigara Public Market in Baybay, Carigara Leyte, and its

potential impact on the local community.

5

Overall, the purpose of this study is to highlight the significance of market

redevelopment as a catalyst for economic growth and community development,

as well as the potential advantages of investing in public infrastructure to support

local businesses and improve the quality of life.

Objectives of the Study

In this study, the researcher’s major goal is to determine the need to

redevelop the Carigara public market. Specifically, it attempts to answer the

following objective:

1. To determine the demographic profiles of the customers, and vendors defined

as the respondents in this study in terms of the following:

1.1 Age

1.2 Gender

1.3 Address

1.4 Role

2. To determine the level of satisfaction of the customers and vendors on the

existing spaces and facilities of Carigara Public Market.

3. To determine the needs and suggestions of the customers and vendors for the

proposed redevelopment of the existing Carigara Public Market.

4. To determine if the customers agree and support for the redevelopment of

Carigara Public Market.

5. To determine the profile of stakeholders in terms of the following:

6

a. Occupation

b. Category of service

6. To determine the feedbacks and suggestions of stakeholders in terms of the

following:

a. Top three major challenging factors that affect the efficiency of the

public market

b. Top three most critical needs to be added in existing the Public Market

7. To determine if stakeholders agree and support for the proposed

redevelopment of Carigara Public Market.

8. To evaluate if the existing public market comply to the standard requirements

based of the following related laws:

a. PD 1096- National Building Code of the Philippines (NBCP)

b. PD 1185- Fire Code of the Philippines

c. B.P. 344- Batas Pambansa Bilang 344

d. P.D. 856- Code on Sanitation of the Philippines

9. To develop a design interpretation based from the result fulfilled from the

above said objectives, and in consideration to the related standard requirements

for the Proposed Redevelopment of Carigara Public Market.

Significance of the Study

This study is important for a variety of reasons, including economic

development, improved quality of life of the people, sustainability, and community

7

development. It can bring about good change and development in different parts

of the community, benefiting stakeholders such as the local government unit,

investors, merchants, and the public.

The findings of this study will be of significance to the following:

To the Vendors. Public Markets plays a crucial role in the livelihoods of many

vendors in the community. It is a central location where farmers and producers

can bring their goods to sell, and where customers can come to purchase fresh

produce, meats, and other essential items. The market is an essential hub for

economic activity in the community and provides numerous benefits to the

vendors who operate within the public market.

To the Agricultural Sector. The farmers can have a platform to sell their

produce directly to the consumers and reduce waste if the appropriate area for

farmer-consumer and commerce is provided.

To the Business Sectors. Public markets act as an incubator for many new

businesses, providing them with training, microloans, and marketing support to

help them succeed. By bringing enterprises out of people's homes and into the

marketplace, where they will comply with health regulations and be exposed to a

large number of new clients, it creates potential for cottage industries to prosper.

To the Customers. Fostering conditions that allow for proper access to

wholesome and safe food draws customers, allowing for the growth of the local

economy, the interchange of cultures, and chances for employment.

8

To the Community. The design layout will also be advantageous to the citizens

of Santa Maria and the towns surrounding because it will result in the operation

of a handy, roomy new public market that will later serve as a town landmark.

To the Local Government Unit of Carigara Leyte. A well-designed and

properly managed market can generate increased revenue for the LGU through

market fees, taxes, and other related income sources. The redevelopment of the

market can create a more conducive environment for business activities,

attracting more vendors and customers, leading to increased sales and revenue.

To the Investors. The results of this study can provide investors with insights

into the market potential of the Carigara Public market. A well-designed

redevelopment project can attract more customers and increase the revenue of

vendors, which can make the market a more attractive investment opportunity.

The study can also analyze market trends and consumer preferences, which can

inform investors' decision-making process.

To the Tourist. Public markets are intended to meet local needs and promote

regional goods when properly planned. This draws a lot of tourists and frequently

extends their length of stay after they are already there. Tourists like to

experience a place's true local flavor rather than a Disneyfied representation of

the local populace.

To the Architects and Allied Professionals. This study will provide an

opportunity to showcase the role of architecture in revitalizing urban areas and

promoting sustainable design principles. The project will require a

multidisciplinary approach, involving architects, engineers, planners, and other

9

allied professionals, to address the various technical, economic, and social

aspects of the project.

To the Architecture Students. This study would serve as a guide in planning

and designing public market, or any associated structures and may as well serve

as a reference source in their future thesis research writing and applications. This

may also serve as an inspiration to them as future designers to engage with the

local community and understand their needs and aspirations.

To the Future Researchers. This study is significant to future researchers as it

provides an opportunity to explore various aspects of urban revitalization and

sustainable design practices. This presents an opportunity for future researchers

to investigate the impact of sustainable design practices on the built environment

and the community.

Scope and Delimitation

The main goal of this study is to propose a redevelopment for the existing

Carigara Public Market. This will cover architectural and conceptual designs with

careful consideration of both its aesthetic and practical aspects, it will

concentrate on enhancing the Carigara public market's relevance with the

participation of relevant respondents namely: customers, vendors and

stakeholders. The primary focus of the study is on how the Carigara Public

Market affects the city, the province, and other nearby towns in terms of the

social and environmental aspect.

10

The concepts of sustainable architecture, the National Building Code of

the Philippines and Code on Sanitation of the Philippines, and other regulations

and legislative frameworks pertaining to the developments will all be taken into

consideration when designing the infrastructure.

The entirety of this study's emphasis is given to those vendors who are

small to medium enterprise; the customers who are residents of the Municipality

of Carigara and from other nearby Municipalities; who implement the necessary

regulation and monitor the maintenance of the existing public market. Descriptive

research design will be used in this study, for this is more of qualitative type

wherein it contains survey method. To ensure the reliability of information or data

that the researchers will acquire from the market vendors and customers a

stratified random sampling technique will be used, wherein the researcher will

interview the available customers and vendors inside the public market. For the

stakeholders, the population data that will be used in this study will mainly come

from the Municipality of Carigara. The information gathered will be used

exclusively for academic purposes only and will be handled with the utmost

confidentially.

The study's output will be a set of programming solutions that have been

developed after careful consideration of the issues at hand. Architectural

drawings will be used to present the final design options. There will also be

structural design, utility schematics, interior design, and landscape architecture.

REVIEWS OF RELATED LITERATURE AND STUDIES

Introduction

This chapter presents the related literature and studies of both local from

foreign and local sources after the thorough and in-depth search done by the

researchers. Those that were included in this chapter helps in familiarizing

information that are relevant and similar to the present studies. It also presents

the synthesis of the art, gap bridged study and theoretical framework to fully

understand the research for better comprehension of the study.

Related Readings

The Presidential Decree 1096, commonly known as the 1977 Philippine

National Building Code, establishes the basic criteria and regulations for building

design and construction in order to promote public safety, health, and welfare.

The law served as a guide in determining the standard requirements of

commercial establishments. Specifically, the researchers can refer to the

requirements of the code on site planning and design, building materials and

construction, and building occupancy and usage. The researchers can also

consult the code's standards for ventilation and skylights in public buildings.
14

Properly designed and built public markets may create a secure and efficient

environment for vendors to sell their wares while also providing a pleasant

shopping experience for the customers.

The Fire Code of the Philippines is a collection of principles that

researchers can utilize to construct public marketplaces. These

recommendations strive to guarantee that buildings are built and planned with

safety in mind, notably in terms of fire prevention and management. The Code

specifies regulations for public and private building and structure construction,

alteration, design, location, siting, conversion, use, repair, occupancy,

maintenance, moving, demolition, and addition. The Fire Code of the Philippines

rules offer researchers with information on fire safety procedures and

requirements that must be included in the design of structures such as public

markets to guarantee that people's safety is prioritized in the case of a fire.

The Accessibility Law, or Batas Pambansa Bilang 344, compels certain

buildings, institutions, organizations, and public utilities to implement facilities and

technologies that improve the movement of impaired people. The legislation

includes Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) that provide minimum

criteria and standards for making public buildings, facilities, and utilities

accessible to handicapped people.

In the context of public markets, researchers might utilize the Accessibility

Law and its IRR as a guide to design accessible structures for people with

impairments. The legislation requires public buildings, including public markets,

15

to be accessible to people with disabilities, and the IRR establishes minimum

criteria and standards for building accessibility, such as the installation of ramps,

railings, and accessible toilets. Researchers can also use the law and its IRR to

guarantee that existing public markets are repaired or adapted to provide people

with disabilities access whenever possible.

The Presidential Decree No. 856 or Code on Sanitation of the Philippines

highlights the value of protecting, promoting, and improving public health as well

as progress in the sanitation industry. No establishment can be operated or

opened for public consumption without sanitary permission given by the

Secretary or his fully authorized representative, as provided for in the law. This

served as a guide for the researchers in determining the requirements for the

operation of sewerage works and the responsibilities of cities and municipalities

for providing a system for collecting, transporting, and disposing of solid waste.

Overall, the sanitation of public markets is crucial for the well-being of the public,

and researchers can use the available resources to guide their work.

Related Literature

Public markets in the Philippines are a unique reflection of the city in

which they are located. According to (Marpa, 2022) "Wandering through a

Filipino public market may seem overwhelming at first, but as you take it all in,

you'll quickly come to appreciate all the concepts". Several public markets focus

on different product categories, including fresh fruit, meat, seafood, a range of

specialty and prepared meals. Unfortunately, the majority of public marketplaces

16

in the Philippines are chaotic, which limits their potential as centers for effective

domestic retail trade. However, there are still some changing this stereotype,

such as the Suki Market in Dapitan, Quezon City, which is the cleanest wet and

dry market in Metro Manila. The market provides ready-to-eat items including

sushi, bibingka, and Filipino afternoon snacks and is divided into sections such

as the fish section, the meat section, and the fruit and vegetable section. It

resembles a cheap grocery in a mall that is located in a public area (Marpa,

2022).

The Municipality of Belison is preparing for a major development of their

public market. It will include all current merchants as well as any new ones, as

well as modern facilities and spaces. The proposed two-story public market will

have 152 regular and medium stalls for wet and dry markets, as well as counter-

type stalls for boleteros or transient vendors, and will feature state-of-the-art

facilities. It will also function as a public meeting spot where people can socialize

and interact in comfort.

The public market will be the Province of Antique's contemporary agora,

with its aesthetic upgrades emphasizing the skylight ceiling and air ventilations.

Despite being a town of fifth class, Belison wants to grow as a center for

business in the Province of Antique and develop a brand-new destination for

visitors. The new public market will continue to bring in money for the

neighborhood. The establishment of such a public market would provide Belison

residents with an unforgettable experience as well as a strong sense of pride and

hope.
17

According to (Peinhardt, 2022) public markets provide a variety of

products, from artisanal goods to fresh food, but they also give aspiring sellers

the chance to create their own business. A project organized by the Mayor of

London's Regeneration Team is creating a new future for market vendors in

London, a city with more than 300 public markets. By providing cohorts of

aspiring market traders with a six-month course centered on business

assistance, including instruction in marketing and social media, the program

Tomorrow's Market seeks to cultivate a new generation of market traders.

With the help of a comprehensive business incubator created to attract a

varied new group of vendors to the city's public markets, the pilot program was

intended to solve the gaps in vendor support. Two waves of 30 traders each

made up the pilot, and they had access to customized training, seminars, and

networking events. Participating vendors are continuing to operate on high

streets, online marketplaces, or markets. Building supportive scaffolding,

breaking down obstacles, and establishing a strong regulatory basis for market

administrators and sellers are all essential to maximizing opportunity in public

markets. Three cities—Tulsa, New York, and London—offer a glimpse of the

tools that governments and market support groups might employ to channel the

entrepreneurial spirit present in our market systems. People will benefit from a

stronger local economy, enhanced economic equity, or a wider range of

alternatives when public markets are welcoming to new business concepts and

actively strive to promote entrepreneurs, sellers, and aspiring farmers. Improved

18

chances translate to better markets for everyone. (Getting to Market: How Public

Markets Drive Opportunity|

Market Cities, n.d.).

To establish a set of planning implications for their usage in contexts of

urban regeneration, the author examines public market functions on three distinct

continents (Europe, North America, and Asia). Based on the LABiMAAM

framework, the study offers a comparative analysis of four downtown market

functions, including Location, Accessibility, Building, Internal structure, Main

trading area, Amenities and services, an Animation program, and Management

structure. This study examines the impact of centrally located public markets on

food security, urban growth, walkability, dependence on automobiles, welfare,

and disenfranchised populations. Both positive and negative effects are noted,

with the former resulting from the rejection of the orientation toward the common

good associated with having a public market function in a prominent place. The

realization of increasing developmental pressures and widespread tendencies to

multiply specialize retail offers in both traditional and new commercial forms led

to the creation of this study. Urban regeneration techniques and public policies

targeted at increasing the importance of commercial urbanism are identified.

(Balsas, 2020)

Related Studies

Public markets are significantly vital to the Filipino's social and public

spaces life. It is a trade center where Filipinos market and sell products and has
19

been for different eras. Palengke, or public Market, is a significant avenue for

empowerin the agricultural sector, farmers, consumers, vendors, and the

community. The majority of public markets are said to have negative comments

from users, such as "unsanitary, stinky, messy, crowded and lacks in natural

lighting," affecting the vitality of the place. Bayombong, a first-class municipality

in Nueva Vizcaya, has an underutilized public market. It is a growing community

that continuously works to gain economic standing by uplifting local shops. As

recognized and identified, the public market is a hub for most local

entrepreneurs; thus, revitalization will be a substantial benefit for the majority's

development standpoint, which would then adhere to the public's ambition. Apart

from being a catalyst for community improvement, the modernization into a

complex will mean a significant transformation for many public markets in the

Country. The Bayombong Public Market Complex will achieve its goal with the

assistance of the Bayombong Local Government and its branch office Industrial

Office. This research aims to create a new design for the Bayombong Public

Market with the synthesis of the Social Architecture approach and its supporting

facilities in their new location by assessing the existing condition of the site and

gathering data through various case studies and surveys. The design will focus

on resolving problems in the current market. By enforcing the laws that govern

this government facility, the proposed plan must improve circulation and provide

greater comfort to the user. The study aims to create a new design for the

Bayombong Public Market using the Social Architecture approach. This approach

takes into consideration the social context and needs of the community in the
20

design process. This study can serve as an example for researchers to consider

the social and cultural aspects of the Carigara community in their public market

redevelopment efforts. (Padillo, 2022).

According to Ferreira (2013b), Public markets were once central

components of the urban food system in American cities but declined in number

and importance by the middle of the 20th century. Despite a diminished role in

feeding the city, public markets have persisted, and interest abounds in both

existing markets and the development of new ones. In addition to creating an

alternative to the mainstream commercial food system, public markets can

generate a range of community benefits including small business opportunities,

preservation and promotion of local foods and foodways, and a forum for public

interaction. Despite these benefits, developing new, permanent, indoor markets

is a unique challenge. This paper investigates development strategies for

organizations seeking to create new public market halls in U.S cities. Literature

specific to public market development is reviewed and contextualized within

broader real estate planning frameworks. A detailed case study of the Boston

Public Market Association and its efforts to develop a new public market hall in

Boston illuminates the difficulties of successfully advancing a public market

project. In particular, current opportunities facing that organization illustrate

potentially successful strategies to develop a new public market. While

developing a public market is not simply a real estate problem, the real estate

world's twin criterion of "most fitting and probable use" suggests an appropriate

planning structure for public market proponents. By planning for a market that is
21

"most fitting" in response to a range of local contexts, market advocates can

make the improbable possible by adopting an opportunistic real estate strategy

and attracting support and resources from both the public and private sectors.

Given the long timeline market projects may face, sustained commitment and

diligent activity are essential to successful market development.

In conclusion, this study about public market can provide valuable insights

and best practices that can inform the redevelopment of the Carigara Public

Market, contribute to the community's socioeconomic development, and ensure

that the redesigned market is compatible with the needs and preferences of the

community.

CHAPTER III

METHODOLOGY

This chapter presents the essential fragment of this study appended by

the Research Methodology. Other than that, provided here includes the research

design, research respondents, research locale, research instrument, data

gathering procedure, data analysis procedure, and method of data utilization for

design.

Research Design

It is important to choose what kind of tactics the researchers should take

while developing a framework for the research. To obtain important information

on the public market and its current situations and conditions, the researchers

used descriptive approach and qualitative strategy in developing the proposed

redevelopment of public market.

24

Qualitative research is a sort of social science research that gathers and

analyzes non-numerical data with the goal of deriving meaning from the data to

better understand social life through the study of specific groups or locations

(Crossman 2019). For this study, it uses descriptive research methodology as it

aims to explain, describe, and understand the current conditions of the public

market. In this study, descriptive research is employed to determine the

importance of the researcher's interviews. The researchers chose this research

design with the aim of obtaining first-hand information from the respondents.

Research Respondents

The respondents of this research are the vendors, costumers, and

stakeholders of Carigara Public Market. Since the vendors are among those

most impacted by the proposal's outcome, they are given a lot of thought in the

research, because gathering data from them enable the researchers to come up

with the most logical conclusions and answers. The costumers are a different

factor that is crucial to take into account. The stakeholders of Carigara’s LGU are

the one who are in charge of managing and maintaining the existing public

market.

When choosing our respondents, we used stratified random sampling

technique. The importance of stratified random sampling is that, when choosing

our respondents within our strata still have a probability or chance of being

involved. This could give an equal or proportional representation of the

25

respondents. The questionnaire is distributed to the respondents using a simple

random sampling technique using fishbowl technique.

The researchers grouped the respondents broken down/ separated into

strata like segments or sections. The following list are the sample size population

gathered from the respondents:

Research Locale

The research locale of the study is conducted in the Municipality of

Carigara, a 2nd class municipality in the province of Leyte, Philippines.

Research Instrument

To better comprehend the nature of the proposed project, the researchers

aware of the additional methods of data collection when assembling the

knowledge and information needed for this research. In gathering necessary

information, the researchers used survey questionnaires. The content of which

are focused on the given statement of the problem, taking the related readings,

literature, and studies as references.

To gather information or opinions about something, an open-ended set of

questions is distributed to respondents. Two survey questionnaires will be

provided: the first is a survey questionnaire designed for the costumers and

vendors; second, is survey questionnaire designed for the stakeholders.

The content of the first survey questionnaire is divided into four parts. The

first part provides quires about the demographic profile of the customers and

vendors in terms of: age, gender, address, and its role. The second part identifies

the level of satisfaction of the customers and vendors on the existing spaces and

facilities of Carigara public market. The third part determine the needs and

suggestions of the customers and vendors for the proposed redevelopment of

27

the existing Carigara Public Market; and the fourth part is if they agree and

support for the redevelopment of Carigara Public Market.

The content of the second survey questionnaire is divided into three parts.

The first part provides quires about the profile of the stakeholders in terms of:

occupation, and their category of service; the second part determine their

feedback in according to the top three major challenging factors that affect the

efficiency of the public market, and top three most critical needs to be added in

the existing public market; and the third part is, if they agree and support for the

redevelopment of Carigara Public Market.

Data Gathering Procedure

The researchers followed an open-ended questionnaire in the study. The

research instrument undergo validation, by the research adviser. After the

validation process, the researchers send a letter for approval to the Municipal

Mayor of Carigara. Prior to the survey schedule the researchers delivered an

intent letter to the research respondents, which include the following: the consent

paper for the approval, together with the schedule, the setting and the process of

survey, the purpose of the survey, and the confidentiality of the study

participants.

During the conduct of this study, the researchers followed the survey

guidelines and consider ethical issues in order to ensure the consistency and

legitimacy of this study. The researchers asked preset open-ended questions to

28

the participants that aims to know the existing problems in Carigara Public

Market and what are the facilities in Carigara Public Market that needs to be

re/develop. After the survey, the researchers ended the survey by acknowledging

and thanking the participants for their time and participation.

Data Analysis Procedure

The researchers made used thematic analysis in analyzing the gathered

data. Thematic analysis is method used for describing data from the

respondents, however it involves interpretation in the process of selecting codes

and themes (Joffe, 2012). To ensure the authenticity of the study, the

researchers followed the steps in thematic analysis to examine and analyze the

gathered data. (Braun & Clarke 2006).

The first step is preparing the data for analysis by transcribing. The

researchers’ transcript the data by looking for the basic observation pattern to

identify the most common response to questions, and the data connection and

pattern that can swear research question and find areas to be explore further.

After preparing the data, coding the answers from the participants is the next

step. The researchers began to take notes on potential data items of interest,

questions, connections between data items, and other preliminary ideas. With

this, the researchers can begin the process of creating an audit trail to support

the trustworthiness of researcher’s interpretation and analysis. Next step is

tallying the common answers given by respondents. The researcher organized

29

the coded and collated data extracts by themes to find the potential and broader

significance. Reducing the data in themes, the researchers re-checked, re-read,

and revised the codes and themes from analytic process to ensure the

consistency of the validation process. Defining and naming the themes, the

researcher created a definition and narrative description of each theme, including

why it is important to the broader study question. Lastly, producing the report

manuscript. The researchers wrote the final analysis and description of findings.

Method of Data Utilization for Design

The data collected from the survey questionnaire will be analyzed using

descriptive statistics such as frequencies, percentages, and mean scores on the

level of satisfaction, and their agreement and support in the creation of the public

market; while for the feedbacks and suggestions will be analyzed using thematic

analysis. The data is presented in tables to facilitate the interpretation of the

results. The results will be used to determine the need to redevelop the Carigara

Public market and it will serve as the foundation for deciding what needs to be

changed and what needs to be prioritized when developing a new public market

that is more effective than the one that currently exists.

The researcher will apply the next statistical procedure to analyze the data

efficiently. The methods used to interpret data include percentage and weighted

mean.

1. Percentage

This will be used to calculate the percentage distribution and frequency

counts of the respondents' personally linked variables. Formula:

30

F
% 100
N

% is the percentage

F is the Frequency

N is the total number of respondents

100 is a constant value
