Shen is at a travel agency. His parents are coming to NYC to visit him. He wants to plan their trip with in
taking a sightseeing tour. Go sightseeing

Important places to visit in NYC


- Brooklyn (bridge)
- The State of Liberty

- Times Square
- Natural History Museum

Important place to visit in Lyon


- The historical district / the old city / Vieux Lyon

2.1 Going on a sightseeing tour


Advantages:
- You don’t have to do/plan anything, you just follow the guide
- A guide can tell you about the important places, the history of the city
- It’s an efficient way to visit a city, it’s good for short trips
- You can get the ticket prices cheaper because there’s a group
- You get to see places that the public can’t get to see
Disadvantages:
- You can’t speak to locals easily because you’ll be with other tourists.
- Theres a schedule to follow
- You can’t do what you want
- there’s a timeframe to respect
- you gain time is preparation/transportation
- you’re restricted in what you can do yourself
- Sometimes other tourists can bring down the mood if they’re not enjoying the tour
- the people in the group can speak loudly

Types/kinds of group tour: walking / hiking / bus / tour / boat / ferry / helicopter / hot air balloon tours /
segway tours (motorized vehicle with 2 wheels, handle bars, controlled by the way the rider distributes their
weight)

For plans we’ve made already, we use the ING form.
This weekend, I’m having dinner with friends.

On Sunday at 11 AM, I’m going to see an art exhibit.
On Saturday at 1 PM, I’m going for a walk around the city with friends.
On Sunday at 4 PM, I’m going to see/seeing a play with my friends.
