Materials and tools:
Sport 5 ply cotton blend yarn (330 m/100 g).

For the overalls: blue (Yarn Art Jeans #17), light blue (Yarn Art Jeans #15).
For the hat: beige (Yarn Art Jeans #07).
For the flowerpot: terracotta (Alize Cotton Gold #36), brown (Alize Cotton Gold
#493).
• 2 mm crochet hook.

Lace cotton yarn (240 m/50g).


For the tomato plant: red (Seam Anna 16 #311), green (Seam Anna 16 #1035).
• 7 steel / 1.5 mm crochet hook.

Fiberfill for stuffing.


Tapestry needle with large eye.
Sewing needle.
Wooden buttons, 10 mm in diameter – 2 pieces
A green chenille stem, 6 mm in diameter.

Abbreviations used (US):


st(s) – stitch(es);
ch – chain;
slst – slip stitch;
sc – single crochet;
inc – increase (2 sts worked into the same stitch = 1 increased);
dec – decrease (2 sts crocheted off together, with separate bases and a shared top);
hdc – half double crochet;
dc – double crochet;
blo – work through the back loop only;
flo – work through the front loop only;
(sc, in)... times – repeat instructions in parenthesis the indicated number of times.

Difficulty level: intermediate.

Gardening overalls
Work in spiral.
In blue yarn ch50, join the chain with a sl st to make a circle.
Rnds 1-4 (4 rounds): sc in every st (50)
Rnd 5: (8 sc, dec) х 5 (45)
Rnds 6-8 (3 rounds): sc in every st (45)
Rnd 9: (7 sc, dec) х 5 (40)
Rnds 10-11 (2 rounds): sc in every st (40) (pic. 1)
To make the trouser-legs, divide the round 11 in two sections of 20 stitches. To do this,
count to the left 20 stitches and insert the hook into stitch 21 (pic. 2). Continue working
the first trouser-leg (pic. 3).
Rnds 12-27 (16 rounds): sc in every st (20).
Change yarn to light blue.
Rnd 28: blo - sc in every st (20) (pic. 4).
Rnds 29-30 (2 rounds): sc in every st (20) (pic. 5).
Leave an end long enough for sewing.
Bend the blue edge and sew it to the trouser-leg (pic. 6).

Leave a starting yarn tail. Attach blue yarn in the next unworked stitch of round 11 of
the trousers to make the second leg (pic. 7).
Make the second trouser-leg repeating rounds 12-30.
Using the starting yarn tail sew up the gap between the legs (pic. 8).

On the front of the pants, mark a section for a front flap 13 stitches wide (pic. 9).
Attach blue yarn to the wrong side (pic. 10) and make 6 turning rounds of sc.
Ch1, pull yarn and tighten the loop (pic. 11).

Attach blue yarn to the 1st stitch of round 1 of the pants and single crochet the waistband
(pic. 12). Reaching the flap, make a decrease from the corner stitches of the waistband
and the flap (pic. 13).

Single crochet the side of the flap.


Without cutting the yarn ch28 (the first strap), make 27 sc along the chain (pic. 14).
Without cutting the yarn single crochet top edge of the flap (pic. 15), ch28 (the second
strap), make 27 sc along the chain (pic. 16).
Single crochet another side of the flap, making a decrease from the corner stitches of
the waistband and the flap.

Single crochet the rest of the waistband.
Fasten off and weave in the yarn end.
Cross the straps from behind and sew their ends to the waistband (pic. 17).
Sew the buttons (pic. 18).

Rainboots
Make 2. Work in spiral.
In black yarn ch6. Work around both sides of the chain. 19
Rnd 1: start from the 2nd loop, 4 sc, 5 sc in the last ch of the
chain. Continue into the unused loops on the other side of the
chain: 3 sc, inc (14)
Rnd 2: inc, 3 sc, 5 inc, 3 sc, 2 inc (22)
Rnd 3: blo – 1 sc in every st (22)
Change yarn to red.
Rnd 4: blo – 1 sl st in every st (22)

Rnd 5: work in blo of round 4 and in the same time in blo of
round 3 (pic. 19) – 1 sc in every st (22) (pic. 20)
Rnd 6: 1 sc each in every st (22)
Place the crocheting aside for a short time.
Attach white yarn to the unused loop of round 2 (pic. 21) and
crochet 1 sl st in every leftover stitch (pic. 22). Fasten off and
hide the yarn ends inside.

Attach brown yarn to the unused loop of round 14 at the inner
side of the flowerpot (pic. 32). Alternate 2 sc and decrease until 30
there are 10 stitches left (pic. 33).
Stuff with fiberfill and pull the opening closed.
Hide the yarn tail inside the pot.
Attach terracotta yarn to the stitch of round 4 (pic. 34).
Make a sl st in every stitch of round 4.
Fasten off and weave in the yarn end.

Tomato plant
Stem
Work in spiral.
In green yarn crochet 6 sc in mr.
Make a 5 cm length stem with sc.
Leave an end long enough for sewing.
Take a piece of chenille stem 8 cm long. Insert the chenille stem into the plant stem,
insert another end of the chenille stem into the pot (pic. 35).
Sew the stem to the ground.

Bottom leaves
Make 4.
1. In green color ch13 (the main chain)
2. 1 sl st in 2nd ch from hook, 1 sc, 1 hdc, 2 sl st.
The first leaf made.
3. Make the next leaf as follow: ch5 (pic. 36), 1 sl st in 2nd ch from hook, 1 sc, 1 hdc, 1 sl
st – second leaf made, 2 sl st – in the main chain (pic. 37).
4. Repeat step 3 two more times. Now total 4 leaves made (pic. 38).
5. Then 3 sl st in the main chain, ch1, 3 sl st on the other side of the main chain(pic. 39).
6. Make 3 leaves on the other side of the main chain - repeating step 3 three times.
Leave an end long enough for sewing.
7. Pull the yarn end through the leaf to the tip of the stem (pic. 40).

Top leaves
Make 2. 41
In green color work in magic ring without cutting the yarn:
Leaf 1 - ch5, 1 sl st, 1 sc, 1 hdc, 1 sl st, 1 sl st in mr.
Leaf 2 – ch6, 1 sl st, 2 sc, 1 hdc, 1 sl st, 1 sl st in mr.
Leaf 3 – as the 1st leaf.
Tighten the ring and leave an end long enough for sewing.

Tomatoes, make 3.
Work in spiral.
In red color.
Rnd 1: 6 sc in mr (6)
Rnd 2: 6 inc (12)
Rnds 3-4 (2 rounds): sc in every st (12)
Rnd 5: 6 dec (6)
Stuff with fiberfill and pull the opening closed. Weave in the
yarn end.

Using green yarn, embroider a stalk on the tomato, and ch 3 from its top.
Leave an end long enough for sewing.

Sew the leaves and tomatoes to the stem as shown in the photo (pic. 44).
