Centraal- and Ostseestaal
Advantages of "cold" forming
I • No material distortion after forming

I • Accurate formed shell plates (within +/- 5 mm tolerance)

• Easy assembly on hull inner structure
1
• Cost saving production method
I • No need for "green" material (over length)
I • Saving of material
I • Saving of welding hours due to:
I large shell plates Cupto 16 mtr 3D) compared to
conventional methods
I
• Saving of painting hours and material Cif line heating

GENERAL YARD COSTS FOR PRODUCTION OF
SHELLPLATES
1

, In order to be able to compare costs in an objective way

(="apple" with "apple"), we have summarised
the actual yard costs for pre-fabrication of shell plates. The
ac tual yard costs are divided in direct costs
and indirect costs. Without the intention to be complete, we
mention the following cost factors:

·I
I Centraal- and Ostseestaal
GENERAL YARD COSTS FOR rRODUCTION OF SHELLPLATES
as
Direct costs before actual production (Engineering, Logistics)
Setting up of a computer database of the electronic lines plan;
Developing and calculating of the shell plates to each separate plate
into a flat surface;
Engineering of the templates for shell plate forming/bending;

and material specification;
Purchasing of both shell plates and templates material ;
Material costs for needed steel material (gross weight);
Material costs for needed template material;
Managing (planning) of aJl production activities related to shell plate
production;
Handling of incoming raw material and transport to applicable internal
production unit;
