Abstract

We all have been affected by the current COVID-19 pandemic. However, the impact of the pandemic
and its consequences are felt differently depending on our status as individuals and as members of
society. Due to the epidemic, most companies were unfortunate and had to close their business since
the country had implemented the Movement Control Order (MCO), which made it difficult for many
people to live their daily lives as they had before the outbreak. The goal of this research is to examine
the fundamental management ideas and concepts that will be used to survive this pandemic. As a group,
we did some research on Malaysia Airlines to determine how this organization need to shift from
pandemic to endemic situation.

Introduction

An organisation is a group of individuals working together to achieve specific goals. It can be understood
as a social system which comprises all formal human relationships. The organization encompasses
division of work among employees and alignment of tasks towards the ultimate goal of the company. In
a management, there are four basic function of management which are planning, organizing, leading,
and controlling of human and other resources to reach the goals efficiently and effectively. Other
resources include knowledge, experience, technology or raw materials, computers and information
technology, copyrights, financial resources, devoted customers, and dedicated workers. Moreover, the
ideal method of determining efficiency is to look at how effectively productive resources are used to
complete a task. The organisation is efficient if managers reduce the number of input resources, or the
length of time required for specific products or services to deliver a given output. The suitability of the
goals that managers have selected for the organisation to pursue and the amount to which these
objectives are met by the organisation, on the other hand, serve as measures of effectiveness. This is
when the manager selects appropriate goals and carries them out.

According to the degree of hierarchy and the types of abilities each manager possesses, the organisation
must divide in two keyways for the four fundamental functions to be carried out effectively. They are
segregated based on their tasks, having been organised into several departments, and their respective
job-related skills, abilities, capabilities, and experiences. Then, to finish their work, these teams can
cooperate to achieve their goals. However, as the world changes more and more, there may be more
issues that need managers and their staff to work even harder and develop better solutions.
Furthermore, one needs to be aware of their own chance to compete to maintain their position as the
leading business in a market that is competitive. The ability of a company to outperform rival companies
by creating appealing goods or services faster and more skilfully than its rivals is known as a competitive
advantage. The managers are always looking for new ways to increase their productivity so they can
successfully compete with other businesses. One needs to be extremely quick and flexible to win in a
competitive setting, which also includes having excellent planning and organising skills.

One of the most popular local businesses is Malaysia Airlines. Malaysia Airlines is the national carrier of
Malaysia, offering the best way to fly to, from and around Malaysia. Up to 40,000 passengers are
transported by Malaysia Airlines every day on exciting experiences that are influenced by Malaysia's rich
diversity. Through its unmistakable Malaysian Hospitality at all points of contact with customers,
Malaysia Airlines captures the great diversity of Malaysia by showcasing its unique customs, cultures,
and cuisines.
Malaysia Airlines Berhad has owned and run the airline since September 2015. It is a member of the
Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG), a worldwide aviation company made up of various aviation business
portfolios designed to meet Malaysians' needs for air travel. Malaysia Airlines provides greater
connectivity through seamless travel to up to 1,000 destinations in more than 170 territories and access
to more than 650 airport lounges worldwide as a one world Alliance member (Malaysia Airlines Bhd.
2021).

All around the world, people are experiencing the COVID-19 global crisis. This virus is very contagious
and spreads by intimate contact between individuals, especially those who are physically close to one
another. It can also spread through airborne transmission, in which case virus-exposed tiny droplets and
particles that can linger in the air for minutes to hours and can spread some illnesses. The global
economy, which has upended everyone's consumerist way of life, has been driven to its knees by this
disease. In order to stop COVID-19 from spreading rapidly throughout the nation, the Movement
Restriction Order (MCO) was put into place. In order to prevent them from joining as the entrance
through which a second wave of the epidemic reemerges it is crucial to acquire the trust and
cooperation of the migrant worker and refugee communities living in our nation. A protocol that
calibrates the amount of economic activity permitted in an area based on its specific colour must be
created. However, the nation needed to retain strict controls on social, sporting, and religious activities
while working to get the economy back on track. Districts with current lawsuits would require greater
physical distances and restrictions on economic development. Only businesses involved in healthcare
and food delivery should be allowed in red-coded areas. This process needs to be closely watched and
adjusted in order for us to open up the economy without letting a devastating impact second sickness
wave spread. Many Malaysians lost their careers as a result. Many Malaysians lost their jobs, and several
businesses went bankrupt. We do not want to completely destroy the industries in Malaysia since these
industries will be required again in a year or two once we have finally beaten the COVID-19 menace with
a reliable and safe vaccine. It would be crucial for manufacturing firms to reduce their workforces and
terminating employees if the epidemic affects their export markets. There would subsequently be a
significant increase in unemployment, possibly affecting up to 3 million people or 20% of the population.

This research will investigate Malaysia Airlines resilience during the Covid-19 pandemic. The research
will demonstrate the difficulties Malaysia Airlines encountered during the pandemic and how they solve
them. This study highlighted the difficulties Malaysia Airlines has to deal with, including flight
cancellations, a decrease in demand, the loss of new clients, and high refund costs. In this research, it
show new marketing plans for Malaysia Airlines to overcome the challenges faced during Covid-19
pandemic.
