Superior dirt repellent and self-cleaning properties

There is an increasing need to protect and preserve exposed, exterior surfaces from
decay and environmental impact - while reducing labor-intensive and costly maintenance.

Prebona Surface Protection provides an environmentally friendly, effective and long-

lasting protection against general wear and tear, preserves and makes surfaces stronger
and significantly enhances their self-cleaning properties
HOW IT
WORKS
All types of surfaces have pores and are uneven at microscopic levels, even glas! Prebona
DuraClean creates a strong three-dimensional structure on the surface which reduces dirt
build-up and delays decay processes by penetrating the pores of the material.

When Prebona DuraClean is applied, it provides the selected surface with a very thin,
invisible coating of modified silica particles which fills in the microscopic cracks, reduces
intrusion of water but still allows the treated material to breathe.

Prebona DuraClean makes the treated surface super-hydrophilic.

As clearly demonstrated in the picture, a Prebona treated - hydrophilic surface - helps to

break the surface tension of water-molecules which gives two important benefits:

• A quick drying effect - which slows down the build-up of algae, spores and
bacteria on the surface.
• A cleaning effect on slanted surfaces – when it rains, the surface forms a water
film that helps to rinse off dirt and spores from the surface

A hydrophobic surface needs substantially longer to dry and will increase the risk for
growth on the surface.

HOW TO
APPLY
Prebona®’s Surface Protection products can
be applied in a wide range of methods.
Examples of this can be spray bottle,
fogger, brushing, rolling and dipping

• Use on new or cleaned surfaces.

• Treated surface should dry before the surface is exposed to rain (1-2h)

• Always treat a hidden surface to determine colour change before treating the whole

surface (there are no known colour changes)

• It is recommended to apply 100 to 200 ml Prebona DuraClean per m2 depending on

material porosity and level of surface strength improvement, acid rain protection and

self-cleaning effect desired.

• Becomes fully integrated with and does not change the structural appearance of the

treated surface.

The treatment will extend the life of roofs, pavings
