(i) What is his profit or loss, if he sold 48 chairs and 20 tables in a month?
(ii) Next month, he earns neither profit nor loss. If he sold 30 chairs, how many tables did he

4. A sum of ₹1000is in the form of denominations ₹5 and ₹10. If the total number of notes is 180,
find the number of notes of each type.

5. What is the probability of choosing a vowel from the word “INDEPENDENCE”?

Q1. Explain the structure of a flower in detail with a labelled diagram.

Q2. A white shirt has a yellow stain of curry. When soap is rubbed on this shirt during washing, the
yellow stain turns red. On rinsing the shirt with plenty of water, the red stain turns yellow again.
a. Name the natural indicator present in curry stain.
b. What is the nature of soap (acidic or basic) as shown by the indicator present in curry stain?
c. Name a synthetic indicator which will give pink colour with soap solution.

Q3. A soil sample weighing 150gm is dried completely by keeping in sunshine. The mass of dried
soil is 135gm.
Calculate the percentage of water (or moisture) in the given sample of soil.

Q4. 200ml of water was taken in a measuring cylinder. This water was added dropwise to 120gm of
dry soil kept on filter paper in a funnel. When the water just started dripping from the funnel the
amount of water left in the measuring cylinder was found to be 140ml. Calculate the percentage
of water absorbed by this soil.
