GLOBAL KOREA SCHOLARSHIP

APPLICATION GUIDE
FALL 2024

ELIGIBILITY
✓ Students commencing their exchange semester in Fall 2024
✓ Students with non-Korean nationality
✓ Students currently residing outside of Korea during the application period
✓ Students who have not previously received a scholarship from the Korean government
✓ Students who have completed a minimum of two semesters at their home university
✓ Students maintaining an overall GPA of 80% or higher
✓ Students who will take at least one course related to Korean language or culture in Fall 2024
MANDATORY DOCUMENTATION
All candidates must submit the following five required documents.

✓ Use the attached template and write in English or Korean. A photo needs to be attached.
1 Application form ✓ Fill out, print out, sign and scan or e-sign and save as a PDF file.

Certificate of ✓ Must be issued in English officially by your home university.


2 ✓ This needs to show that you are currently enrolled at your home university.

3 Passport ✓ Scan the personal information page of your passport.

✓ Must be issued in English officially by your home university.


✓ Must show grades of at least two semesters at your home university.
✓ Must contain all the courses that you have taken at your home university until the very last semester.
✓ Must have an overall GPA of 80% or higher.
✓ An overall GPA must be provided in one of the following scales: 4.0 scale, 4.3 scale, 4.5 scale, 5.0 scale or
4 Academic transcripts 100 points scale.
✓ Note: Transcripts that do not include an overall GPA or transcripts that are in any other GPA scales are not
acceptable. If needed, students need to ask their home university to have their academic transcripts
officially converted into one of the acceptable scales mentioned above. While we acknowledge that certain
universities may not issue transcripts meeting these specifications due to variations in academic systems,
compliance with this requirement remains imperative.
✓ Use the provided template and write in English or Korean only.
✓ Your study plan may include, but not limited to, your motivation for choosing Korea and Dankook as your
study abroad destination, goals that you want to achieve through studying in Korea and plans for Fall 2024.
5 Study plan ✓ Maintain the text size and line spacing as they are in the template.
✓ Your study plan should be no longer than 2 pages.
✓ Students may incorporate the content from their previously submitted study plan for their Dankook
exchange application, if they wish. This scholarship application is totally separate from the previous one.
OPTIONAL DOCUMENTATION
The following three documents are encouraged for additional scoring.

✓ The acceptable English tests are TOEFL(including ITP), IELTS and TOEIC only.
7 English test score ✓ Students holding nationality in English-speaking countries, including the USA, Canada, UK, Ireland, Australia,
and New Zealand, are exempt from submitting a test certificate.

Recommendation ✓ This needs to be written by a person who has been involved in your academic development.
8 ✓ Recommendation letters that are perfunctorily issued by your home university are not acceptable.

SUBMISSION
✓ Please submit your application via google form: https://forms.gle/wC6qwLzoLpdBH5S88.
✓ The application deadline is 23:59:59 Thursday, May 16th, 2024 (KST).

ANNOUNCEMENT OF RESULT
✓ Early July via email
NOTES
✓ Upon concluding their studies at Dankook, selected students must submit a concise report
detailing their experience in Korea.
✓ To be eligible for flight reimbursement, students must:
- Depart from the country of birth or the country where their home university is located
- Arrive at the country of birth or the country where their home university is located
- Return to their home country within 30 days after the end of Fall 2024 semester
✓ Selected students will receive approximately 470 USD per month for four months
(September~December), along with flight reimbursement (provided in December). To receive
the scholarship fund, students must open a bank account in Korea; however, this process takes
about a month and a half after arrival. As students cannot receive the scholarship fund until
the end of October, students should budget accordingly and plan for expenses before
receiving the scholarship.
✓ Selected students are required to enroll in the National Health Insurance Service (NHIS), as the
scholarship fund encompasses this coverage.
✓ Students planning to study at Dankook for Fall 2024 and Spring 2025 are ineligible for the
return flight reimbursement.
