SCHOOL PROFILE

Genoveva R. Mendoza
San Jose del Monte Heights Elementary School
located at the heart of the new resettlement community of San Jose del
Monte Heights in barangay Muzon, City of San Jose del Monte.
The school is composed of multilevel buildings that houses large enough,
ventilated and lighted classrooms.
The community where the school resides is a resettlement area of Informal
Settlers relocated from the danger zones of Metro Manila’s waterways.
The relocation is part of the P351-billion program of the Aquino
administration to address the perennial flooding in the metropolis, which in
recent years has worsened due to clogged waterways, urban sprawl,
denuded watersheds and fiercer storms.
The resettled families are now living in a peaceful community in San Jose del
Monte Heights after the government gave them shelters that they can call
their own.
• The school was inaugurated in 2014 with initially fifteen classrooms. June 2014 was also the opening
of its first school year of operation.

• SJDMHES, for its acronym, welcomed 2,141 students on its first school year that composed of pupils
from kindergarten to grade six.
• Classes were first handled by 48 teacher aides under the leadership of Ms. Maria Fatima Felicia, OIC
during that time.
• the school lacked the resources, important facilities and enough number of teachers, SJDMHES
managed to stand on its own and did its mandate.
• No water, no electricity, life in SJDM Heights Elementary School was very difficult especially for
students. However, these hindrances did not discourage the school to provide quality education for
its students. Instead these were used as a motivation to strive harder and to find better ways to
deliver the services towards quality education.
