3. Motivation

How many among you loves to travel? Do you know that when you travel to other
country you will notice that there time is different from our time. So, today we will find out
how are these things happened?

Present this problem and the time zone map. Let the pupils read and understand it.

2. Performing the Activity

Solution:

10:20 - London Time- Time of Departure

+ 55 - Duration of flight
11:15 - London Time
12:15 – Paris Time Time of Arrival
Answers:
A. From London to Paris it takes 55 mins. to travel and the plane will arrive at
11:15.(London Time ) while in Paris time it is 12:15. So, therefore their time difference is
1 hour.

10:20 am – London Time –time of departure

+ 6:20 - Travel Time
16:40/4:40 pm- London Time
10:40 am –Montreal Time Time of Arrival

B. From London to Montreal it takes 6 hours and 20 mins. to travel and the
plane will arrive at 16:40/4:40 pm ( London Time ) while in Montreal time is
10:40 am. So, therefore their time difference is 6 hours.

Ask: Why do you think time zone is important to know the different time of the
the different countries?
Say: Let us have another countries.( Use the same table)
This time you will group yourselves into 4.
Group 1- Lima

Call a representative of each group to report the outcomes of their activity.
