Script for Presentation Video on Monroe’s Motivated Sequence
[Introduction]
"Hello, my name is [Your Name], and in this video, I will explain how Monroe's Motivated Sequence is applied in a Public
Service Announcement (PSA) for the SMC Health and Wellbeing Center. Monroe's Motivated Sequence is a structured
approach to creating persuasive messages, consisting of five steps: Attention, Need, Satisfaction, Visualization, and Action.
Let's see how each step is effectively used in this PSA."
[Attention]
Visual: Students stressed with books and screens.
"Did you know that nearly 60% of college students feel overwhelmed by their academic responsibilities?"
Audio: This opening line captures attention by presenting a striking statistic alongside visuals of students buried in books and
staring at screens with stressed expressions. It immediately highlights a common issue that resonates with many students.
[Need]
Visual: Students showing stress in different settings.
"Many students at SMC struggle with managing their stress and maintaining their mental and physical health, which can
lead to serious consequences."
Audio: Here, the PSA establishes the need by showing the widespread issue of student stress at SMC. The visuals of students
in various stressful situations reinforce the message that this is a pervasive problem, setting the stage for the urgency of
finding a solution.
[Satisfaction]
Visual: Health and Wellbeing Center activities.
"But there’s a solution. The SMC Health and Wellbeing Center offers a range of services designed to support your overall
health."
Audio: The PSA introduces the solution by showcasing the activities and services available at the Health and Wellbeing
Center. This part of the sequence provides reassurance that there is help available and highlights the center as a valuable
resource for students.
[Visualization]
Visual: Happy students, testimonials.
"Imagine feeling balanced, healthy, and ready to tackle your studies with confidence. By utilizing the resources at the
Health and Wellbeing Center, you can achieve this and more."
Audio: Visualization is used to paint a positive picture of what life could be like for students who take advantage of the
center's resources. Happy students and positive testimonials help the audience envision a healthier, more balanced lifestyle,
making the benefits of the solution tangible.
[Action]
Visual: Contact information and location.
"Don’t wait! Take the first step towards a healthier, happier you. Visit the SMC Health and Wellbeing Center today at
[location] or sign up online at [website]."
Audio: The PSA concludes with a strong call to action, encouraging students to take immediate steps to improve their health.
By providing contact information and a clear invitation to visit the center, the PSA makes it easy for the audience to act on
the message.
[Conclusion]
"In conclusion, this PSA effectively uses Monroe's Motivated Sequence to create a compelling and persuasive message. By
capturing attention, establishing the need, offering a satisfying solution, helping the audience visualize the benefits, and
encouraging immediate action, the PSA motivates students to utilize the resources available at the SMC Health and
Wellbeing Center. Understanding and applying Monroe's Motivated Sequence can greatly enhance the impact of our
persuasive communications."
[Closing]
"Thank you for watching. I hope this breakdown helps you see the power of Monroe's Motivated Sequence in creating
effective and persuasive messages."
