Hot Spots

The hot spots are where our main subject of the poster seems to be framed in the centre. This is to show the viewer that this guy in the centre where the hot spots are allocated in the centre is the main character.

Route of the Eye

The route of the eye is the part of the poster which the viewer will quickly see, so in this poster the white lines signify the start and finished, symbolized as an Z. At first the viewer will see the names. These names have been allocated at the top of the page because the viewer will be familiar with these names, then can know who is who since the names are on top of the characters head. As the viewers eyes go from the right hand corner, diagonally to the left hand bottom corner, they will see the main subject. This is Leo, who plays the main role of the film. The audience will become familiar with who he is. The bottom of the poster we see the title The Matrix now the title isnt in big fonts, this is because the elements of the posters will notify the viewers that they are viewing a Matrix Poster, all the conventions are there, that give the title away. Then we see the slogan Fight for the future which is very vibrant.

Color
The genre of this film is sci fi/ actions and the conventions of sci- fi are dark colors that contrast with futuristic colors. Such as Black and green, or black and blue. The main subject, Leo seems to be wearing black, which is very emotional, powerful and mysterious. This tells us the viewers that Leo is the main character who the audience will appeal to since Leo attracts us with his qualities. The other subjects seem to be wearing blue; this is a very dark blue which shows importance within the cast. The background appears to get lighter which makes the subjects stand out and we see binary coding which is a convention of sci- fi. The color of the font is very light and contrasts with the characters and the background, thus making it easier to read from a distance. The title is electric white with a glow of blue, which makes it feel that its coming out of the page.

Layout and Design

The layout of the magazine is very simple and appealing; the characters names are on the top of the character itself. The characters have been positioned in line of importance and power, for example Leo is the main character; therefore he steals the spotlight. The title has been placed in the bottom, below the main character Leo. This is because the viewer will look here last after looking at the names, characters and then title. The font they are using is a sci font, which tells the audience that this film is a sci- fi film. The font is very appealing due to the style and colors used that go well with the other elements of the poster. The design of the poster is very realistic due to editing which combines the futuristic fantasies that viewers share.
