Promoting health and wellness in the city is easy at the

Massage Envy Spa in Pine Valley Crossing, where profes-

sional massage therapists and estheticians customize
massages and facials to meet the needs of clients.
We customize the massage session to meet the needs
of the client each day, owner Amanda Tokos said. We
match them up with therapists who can meet their needs.
She said this customized care sets Massage Envy apart
from other massage businesses.
Massage therapy can help the body by promoting
circulation, decreasing stress and increasing joint
mobility, in addition to many other benefits. Massage
Envy Spas have also made it possible to get a massage
session or facial session at a more affordable price. Its
not just a luxury service, Tokos said. It is now available
to everyone.
In addition, the spa is also open late weeknights and
weekends, to accommodate a variety of scheduling needs.
All of the massage therapists meet full certification
requirements as well.
All are certified and all graduated from an accredited
massage school, she said, also adding that the therapists
have professional liability insurance and have undergone
background checks prior to employment.
Massage Envy offers 60 minute, 90 minute and 120
minute customized massage sessions and also upgrades,
which include deep heat relief muscle therapy and
AromaTherapy. Hot stone massages are also available, in
addition to four different types of Murad Healthy Skin
facial sessions.
The facial sessions include modifications for sensitive
skin, anti-aging treatment, Vitamin C and a clarifying
enzyme facial that works to heal blemishes, prevent
breakouts and restore skin. The facial system was devel-
oped by Dr. Howard Murad, a world-renowned
dermatologist.
Other therapeutic services include sports massage,
reflexology massage, cranial sacral therapy, geriatric

Anytime Fitness prepares
to open on West Dupont
As Amy and Patrick Carpenters
fourth Anytime Fitness club prepares
to open up on West Dupont, excite-
ment is in the air. The new location
will have many high-tech features
for members, including touch-screen
TVs, wireless internet, a rope pulling
machine and a step mill.
Owner Amy Carpenter said the
cardio equipment will also offer
touch-screen access, which will
allow members to post their work-
outs directly to Facebook, while they
are still at the gym.
While the new location in North-
brook, next to Shannon Jewelers and
State Farm Insurance will offer
weights, cardio and equipment, club
members can go to the Dupont/I-69
location for group exercise classes.
Just a short drive from the North-
brook location, the other Anytime
Fitness club offers the Les Mills
brand of group exercise classes.
Anytime Fitness clubs are open 24
hours a day, with members using a
key card to gain entry to the club
after staffed hours.
The 24 hour access is really
important, Carpenter said, citing
busy lives and schedules as possible
detriments to making it to the gym.
But she said with the key card
access and the anytime model,
there should be no more excuses.
She said most customers appreciate
the convenience of going to work
out when its easiest for them, even
if that means theyre hitting the
weight bench after they get off
second or even third shift work
schedules.
Carpenter also said the locaiton is
great for people who live in the
Dupont area, Huntertown or even
Avilla. This is a growing ara of Fort
Wayne, she said, adding that the
construction changes on Lima Road
that were made earlier this year have
made getting around the area of
town easier and more conven-
ient.
Anytime Fitness club members
also have the advantage of using
their keycard in other cities and
even, in other countries.

Lorelei VerLee is the
visionary behind Creative
Women of the World, an
organization that helps
women who seek to rise
out of extreme poverty, by
business and marketing
solutions. Her interest in
global culture was
fostered when she was
growing up. Her parents
were missionaries and she
lived in Tokyo until high
school.
Ive always had a
global view, she said. I
wanted to do mission
work. I studied art in
America and I taught art
in public schools.
VerLee started her own
greeting card business in
the late 80s.
It was all done with
artisans here in Fort
Wayne, she said. Our
goal at that time was to
provide jobs for women
who wanted to stay home
with their children.
The company dissolved
after being sold, but this
did not stop VerLee.
I was always sad about
that. In the meantime, I
had been going to
different countries doing
mission [work], she said.
An email from HAPI,
Haitian Artisans for Peace,
arrived in 2007 that
changed her career plans.
I got an email saying
they were looking for a
designer-type that could
help a greeting card
company in Haiti, VerLee
said. My heart just
jumped. I knew this was
it.
She then spent a month
with the artisan women in
Haiti. I found that it was
way more primitive than I
could have ever imag-
ined. VerLee said most of
the villagers had not gone
to school and at the most
had only gone through
third grade. Most could
not read.
She began to give them
drawing lessons and soon
found that the artisans
were fantastic embroi-
derers.
It was all hand-done,
not done on a machine,
she said.
VerLee worked as
Product Designer and
Marketing Director of
HAPI for four years
before starting Creative
Women of the World
(CWoW).
It has been so
exciting, she said.
CwoW aims to help
these artisans come out of
extreme poverty, by using
creativity and selling
handmade cards and other
wares. Products are sold at
the store on DiSalle Blvd.
and represent countries
like Haiti, Tajikistan,
India, Kenya, Mexico and
Turkey.
The organization also
cares about the working
conditions the products
they sell were manufac-
tured in.
Our goal is not only
just to buy the products,
VerLee said, adding that
they like to put a face to
the person who made the
products and know, what
their stories are. Its a
story that goes back many,
many generations. We are
all effected by the culture
in which we were raised.
As we get to know a little
more about the artisan and
her culture, then we feel
more connected.
One of the organiza-
tions CWoW works with
is Radiant Hope, which is
based in Turkey and is a
safe house for women
who have been rescued
from sex slavery, VerLee
said. An item on the
product line is a necklace
with 27 tear-shaped Italian
glass beads.
It represents the 27
million women and chil-
dren who are now
enslaved, she said. We
are the key to help them
find freedom.

VerLee herself has trav-

Ive been to Haiti

Sexual abuse is not just
an East Coast problem.
Make no mistake that the
sexual abuse in Pennsyl-
vania - and now a high
profile case connected to
Syracuse University in
New York - is a problem
everywhere. It happens
here.
It takes a great deal of
moral courage to report
child sexual abuse or any
kind of child abuse. We
fear we will be identified
to the perpetrator or that
our job might be in jeop-
ardy if we report a
colleague.
If we know the perpe-
trator we may doubt the
validity of what we saw or
what a child has told us.
Having moral courage to
do what is right is one of
the toughest things facing
us today.
For more than 443
northeast Indiana children,
someone had the moral
courage and took respon-
sibility between January
and October to report
child sexual abuse.
These courageous indi-
viduals decided the childs
wellbeing was more
important than their
personal doubts or fears,
that stopping the night-
mare of sexual abuse for a
child superseded their own
qualms.
They found the moral
courage to be a childs
protector.
Why report? First of all,
we are all protectors of
children. We are the
childs voice. The child is
counting on you and me.
Second, child sexual
abuse has long-term
effects. Multiple studies
show victims grow up to
have higher rates of
depression and other
mental illnesses as well as
substance abuse.

Youth
Clinic urges child flu vaccines
now before holidays
Because flu season
peaks in January and
February, Super Shot is
asking parents to vacci-
nate their children now
before the holidays. In the
U.S, 5 to 20 percent of the
population will contract
the flu. Over 200,000
people will be hospital-
ized from flu
complications, and
approximately 36,000 will
die. Children are at partic-
ular risk because of their
developing immune
systems. Anyone who
lives with or cares for
young children, including
siblings and daycare
providers, should get
vaccinated against flu.
Children under 6 months
old are too young to be
vaccinated; the best way
to protect them is for
household members and
caregivers to receive the
vaccination, according to
the release. Super Shot
offers the injectable flu
vaccine and Mist; injec-
tion is suitable for
children ages 6 months
through 18 years; Mist is
recommended for healthy
children ages two to 18.
Parents are required to
bring their child?s shot
record and a Medicaid
card, if applicable. The
immunization program
offers shots for $8, though
no one is turned away for
inability to pay. Super
Shot serves children in
Allen and surrounding
counties. Last year,
17,377 children received
48,646 immunizations
through the program.

Super Shot locations, call

Third, reporting sexual
abuse can help ensure
another child does not
become a victim. Walking
in on a child being sexu-
ally assaulted by an adult
is not common. What is
more common is
observing certain behav-
iors in the child or hearing
the child report an adult
has inappropriately
touched him or her or
shown inappropriate
sexual behavior around
the child. Child behaviors
indicative of sexual abuse
may include: excessive
fear of being left alone
with a certain adult; a
drop in grades; sudden
change of attitude; torn,
stained or bloody under-
clothing; pain, swelling or
itching in the genital area;
difficult walking or
sitting; bruises or bleeding
in the genital area; getting
an STD; frequent urinary
or yeast infections; age-
inappropriate seductive
behaviors or inappropriate
sex play; premature
understanding of sex;
over-concern for siblings;
weight change; suicide
attempts, especially in
adolescents; or negative
reaction to physical
contact or affection by
any adult or by one partic-
ular adult.
If a child talks to you
about being touched in
their private parts or
feeling uncomfortable
around an adult, the words
will not be those of an
adults. It will be in the
story he or she tells of an
encounter with an adult.
Take time to listen; listen
quietly. Say supportive
phrases such as, Its good
you told me. I will get
you help. Hold back
shocked looks and
blaming phrases, such as,
Why didnt you tell me
sooner? or, Why would
you let him do that to
you? Keep the child
talking.
We will move past Penn
State, Syracuse and other
high profile cases, but
they should stand as a
reminder that each of us
has the responsibility to
be protectors of children.
To report child abuse, call
the hotline at 1-800-800-
5556. You can remain
anonymous. State law
requires the Department
of Child Services to
protect the identity of
those reporting suspected
child abuse or neglect.

would never peg him as one. After all, he couldn't be in a
more public role as director of communications at the
Greater Fort Wayne Chamber of Commerce. But he
admits his shy disposition was something he overcame
earlier in his career as a journalist.
So it may surprise some to find out that he is the man
behind Rockhill Records, a local record label that just
released its first album.
Swerens has had a musical bug in his ear for many
years. As an adolescent, his parents made him play the
trumpet and he didn't want to at first, but the moment
Swerens started to learn the fundamentals of music, he
said he became a hopeless band geek.
He discovered music theory on his own by playing an
old Magnus chord organ his parents gave him for
Christmas.
"It's like a pipe organ, but not good," he said. "It had
these little buttons on the side that played chords and I
remember thinking, wait ... chords are just a bunch of
notes played together. And thus a music theory student
was born."
A musician in his own right the piano is now his
instrument of choice Swerens has written many songs
and frequently performed on the local coffee shop circuit.
Today, he has a full house with his wife and four kids
on Fort Wayne's north side. It is where he made his first
album, "Wordlessly," something Swerens says was, well,
an accident.
Jon Swerens is the owner and founder of Rockhill
Records, an "a la carte" record label in Fort Wayne
that just released "Sleigh Bells in the Air," an album
by newcomer Hannah Bushong of Syracuse.

When his brother got married, Swerens
was asked to create music for the
wedding reception. He put on his head-
phones and temporarily tuned out a
bustling household to lay down 60
minutes of instrumental tracks with a
digital piano using his MacBook and a
Steinway piano sound program. Swerens
decided to see what would happen if he
printed it to CD and sold them as pack-
aged albums, planting the seed to later
help other local artists get their music out
in front of the public. His first project
would be in collaboration with a close
family friend.
Swerens met Tim Bushong and his
family at Trinity Evangelical Church,
where the Swerens family has been
members for years. Bushong is the owner
of the TBush Recording studio in Syra-
cuse, where his catch phrase "It's not the
gear. It's the ear." is well known among
regional artists.
"This project with the Bushongs kind of
got me off the dime," Swerens said.
"They're very interested in playing music,
I'm very interested in marketing."
Swerens said publishing and marketing
an album takes a lot of thinking ahead that
either doesn't come naturally or doesn't
interest all people. So Swerens created
Rockhill Records, an "a la carte record
label" where he helps with whatever the
artist needs, from playing piano on a track,
to designing the album's packaging or
website, and everything else in between.
"I know how to write a press release,
and I know how to get in front of the
media, and I kind of just enjoy doing that.
I like helping," he said.
Rockhill Records recently released its
first album, "Sleigh Bells in the Air," by
up-and-comer Hannah Bushong. Hannah
is Tim Bushong's 18-year-old daughter
and a singer with vocals reminiscent of
today's pop-standard, female jazz musi-
cians. The Christmas album is sold for $10
on the record label's website, www.rock-
hillrecords.com.
"I'm really happy to be able to get her
voice out in front of people," Swerens
said. "Her register is a little lower; it's
smooth in a way that's very appealing.
There are some CDs out there that only a
mom could love, but I cannot hide my
excitement about how well the whole
thing turned out."
That is kind of the point behind Rock-

hill Records, Swerens said. With self-
publishing becoming a standard for artists
to get their music to a larger audience, it
doesn't always come across as profes-
sional, and some artists make the mistake
of taking part in what Swerens called
"vanity press." And what does he mean by
that?
"The only reason you have a CD is
because you have enough money to print
enough CDs and you're trying to sell them
and you have a garage full of them
because only your mom bought any," he
said.
That's just not what his record label is
all about. Swerens wants to help artists
take their album to another level, and the
key word there is "help." He wants
creative friends to band together, taking
their strengths in one area and putting
them together to make an album better
and more marketable.
So where does he see this going one
day?
"The word is mogul, he said play-
fully, laughing at himself. "If anything, I
hope a musician would see this and think,
'Oh, I'm just self releasing this. Maybe I
shouldn't do that.' I don't care if it's with
me, but if friends come together and they
help each other and support each other,
that's going to come across a lot better
than the selling CDs out of your trunk
vibe."
Swerens has coordinated a holiday
concert at Wooden Nickel Records on
Wednesday, Dec. 21, where he will
accompany Hannah and Tim Bushong on
keyboards. The free, all ages show
featuring music from "Sleigh Bells in the
Air" starts at 6 p.m. at 3422 N. Anthony
Blvd. Also performing will be local artist
Mike Conley with jazz trio The Beef
Manhattans.
While Swerens is right now focused on
getting Hannah Bushong's album off the
ground, he will eventually return to the
studio with hopes to release his second
album later in 2012.
"If (Rockhill Records) takes off, great.
But the whole purpose of it is friends
helping friends get music out in front of
the population of Fort Wayne and north-
east Indiana, and if we do that for each
other, that's huge. If they discover me, too,
well, OK."

Zoo visitors round up to raise $12K
A year-long campaign
to raise money for conser-
vation organizations raised
$12,400 at the Fort Wayne
Childrens Zoo.
In 2011, visitors of the
zoos Wild Things Gift
Shop were given the
choice to round up their
total purchase price, the
change going to a collec-
tion that would
accumulate throughout the
year.
The funds, along with
budgeted zoo contribu-
tions, will benefit 23 local,
national and international
conservation organiza-
tions, a release said.
This shows that even
small efforts can make a
big difference, zoo
Director Jim Anderson
said in the release. Our
thanks to Service Systems
Associates, which oper-
ates the gift shop, and the
thousands of zoo guests
who rounded up for
conservation this year.
Causes supported by the
fundraising effort include
the Indiana wetlands,
rescuing African penguins
from an oil spill, and field
studies of endangered
Javan gibbons.

happy to share ways to get
your family involved in

way to be healthier, but it
is also a way to connect to

two virtues we may all
need a little more of!
1. Analyze what you
have access to, such as
an open space in a living
room, a backyard, park,
hula hoop, jump rope,
kickball etc. It can be
anything that gets you
moving and engages you
as a family. Ask your chil-
dren or spouse what they
find fun to do. Listen to
each person and incorpo-
rate fun into fitness. For
example, my husband and
I have taken up running 5-
10k races in the last 6
months. Fortunately, we
live close to a park that
allows us a place to run
safely. To get our practice
going, my husband,
daughter, and I put on our
running shoes and head to
the park. My 3 year
daughter loves running the
block and a half to the
playground area of the
park. From there, my
husband and I will take
turns playing with my
daughter on the play-
ground while the other
one runs. When we play
with my daughter on the
playground, its not just
standing there and
watching. We climb, crawl
and slide with her. We
also run around the base-
ball diamonds when they
are not being used and my
daughters favorite
rolling her up a hill. She
lies at the bottom of a hill,
while I get down to the
ground to roll her up the
hill. She laughs all the
way up; meanwhile I am
getting an intense workout
for my legs, shoulders,
and abs.
2. Remember that
when it gets cold out,
you can still be outside.
Thirty minutes in thirty
degree weather is possible
to handle. It will give you
all the more reason to
move around and get
warm. When the weather
is really bad, we play
around the house. It
involves anything from
hopping around like frogs,
practicing yoga, or an
impromptu dance party.
Yoga with children can be
really fun. Check out your
local library for children
yoga books that can help
you tell a story while
teaching them how to
move with yoga.
3. Find free ways to
get fit. It does not cost
any money to be healthy
and happyjust an open
mind and a willing heart. I
encourage you to get up
and move with your chil-
dren. Turn the T.V. off and
dance. Get off the couch
and hula hoop. Work
towards spending an hour
a day playing. Allow fun
and exercise to combine
with family. Believe me,
as someone who spends
all day everyday teaching
fitness and yoga, some-
times the last thing I want
to do when I get home is
more fitness; but the most
important thing to me is to
ensure that the younger
generation learns how to
be active. So, heres to
spreading the love and
being active in our fami-
lies lives!

Group for women inspired by
1930s hostess of Fort Wayne
The Newcomers Club of Fort Wayne hosts events,
lunches and opportunities for new friends
In 1937, Marie Kane
founded The Newcomers
Club of Fort Wayne.
She was known as the
unofficial hostess of Fort
Wayne, current
Newcomers Club presi-
dent Dee Keywood said.
Back in the late 1930s,
as part of her duties, Kane
welcomed new residents
to the area and left them
with a coupon book
intended to help with new
homeowner expenses.
Through this greeting
process, she started to
notice that many of the
new people who came to
the city didnt know
where they could go to
socialize. One bridge
luncheon at her home led
to another and Kane and
other women agreed to
create a newcomers
club.
She realized that
women especially needed
more than just a greeting,
Keywood said. In June
1938, the constitution for
the Newcomers Club was
drafted. After the initial
club, several hobby
groups sprung up. Some
of the women met to
swim, whereas other
started book groups and
bridge clubs.
Many decades later, the
club is still running and
offers a special coffee
social for people who are
new to the area and want
to meet new friends.

Yoga in the Garden is for everybody
Classes build community and allow
participants to connect with nature
Local resident Lanah Hake had the
inspiration to start Ft Wayne Outdoor
Yoga this summer, after a trip.
I truly love teaching yoga, she said. I
love our local parks and after living in
other cities with outdoor yoga and a trip
in Baja, Mexico, where I did lots of yoga
on the beach, I thought why not offer Fort
Wayne outdoor yoga in my hometown?
She taught weekly Tuesday classes at
Freimann Square during the lunch hour
on Tuesdays and also on Wednesday
evenings at Lakeside Park during the
summer.
Hake said the environment of the
outdoors helped set the space for practice.
It is a great way to get fresh air,
connect with the earth and nature and
come back into balance, all while getting
people to enjoy [the] beauty of our city,
parks and build community, she said.
But for the winter season, Hake has
been teaching in the Botanical Gardens at
the Foellinger-Freimann Botanical
Conservatory.
It was a surprise to me when the
outdoor group asked if wed move it
indoors, but I was happy to explore the
idea, she said. Three people in one
week suggested [the] Botanical Gardens,
so I figured I should call them. Amaz-
ingly, they were very excited about the
idea.
Shortly after a press release was sent
out, Hake and Mitch Sheppard, Manager
of the Conservatory, were invited on
NIPR for a half hour segment. Following
this segment, Hake had about 20 people
in the first few sessions.
Yoga in the Garden, is offered
Wednesdays from 5:30-6:30 p.m., for
students of all levels. The classes are $5
for members of the Conservatory and $7
for non-members.
Preregistration is not required, but
students should arrive 10 minutes before
class time. It is suggested to bring your
own blanket or mat, although a few are
available if that is not possible. All partic-
ipants will be asked to sign a waiver at
each class, confirming they have suitable
health for practice. The classes are
designed for people 15 and up and are not
intended for women who are pregnant.
Certified as a 200 hour RYT (Regis-
tered Yoga Teacher) through Pranayoga
School of Health and Yoga, Hake said that
yoga is for everyone.
I believe yoga meets you where you
are, and is for everybody, she said.
For people who may be new to yoga or
are interested in checking out one of her
classes at the Gardens, she says, All they
need to know about yoga is that it will
improve their sense of well being and
there are infinite possibilities to enhance
physical health, stress management,
emotional and even spiritual well being
but it is up to each individual to shape
it! Those who say they are too busy, too

Indiana Tech will build
new residence hall
Indiana Tech plans to invest $4.3
million in the construction of its eighth
Fort Wayne residence hall next year.
An announcement on the project said
site preparation for the 30,000-square-foot
building on Washington Boulevard
between Walter and Schick streets will
start in January, with construction sched-
uled to begin the next month and conclude
in July.
The announcement said 2012 would be
the fifth consecutive year the nonprofit
university has built a residence hall to
accommodate increased demand for
student housing on its Fort Wayne campus
as a result of enrollment growth.
Weve been very successful in
increasing our undergraduate enrollment
and improving the scope and quality of
activities on campus, Arthur Snyder, pres-
ident of Indiana Tech, said in the
statement.
The result is that each year we have
more students who want to live on
campus, and we are committed to meeting
the needs of those students through addi-
tional housing.
The universitys undergraduate program
enrollment in Fort Wayne has almost
doubled during the past six years, to 1,137
this fall from 633 in the fall of 2005.
With space for 95 students, including
three resident assistants, the project will
grow Indiana Techs campus housing
capacity to 610.
The building will look like the other
residence halls on campus but instead of
townhouse-style housing, it will offer
suite-style housing designed for freshmen,
with a bathroom and bedroom for two
students.
The Warrior Row townhouses are an
excellent option for our older students
who want to balance independence with
the convenience of living on campus,
Snyder said.
This new residence hall offers a more
traditional campus housing experience for
our freshmen while continuing our efforts
to develop the Washington Boulevard
corridor both as part of our campus and as
an entry to downtown Fort Wayne.

Mandelbaum was

I made many friends

very fond, Mandelbaum
said in a statement.
Atlanta-based designer

Former Coldwater

game center, pizza buffet
Tokens-N-Tickets will move
its Noble Drive Fun Center to
the former Joes Crab Shack
restaurant at 5820 Coldwater
Road in early 2012.
The business will combine
its family game center with a
new pizza buffet restaurant.
The new concept, called
Tokens-N-Tickets Pizza
Shack, could employ as many
as 60 people, said CEO Rob Clevenger.
Tokens-N-Tickets also has a location inside Pro Bowl
West.
The 10,000-square-foot building near the intersection
of Washington Center Road was empty for several years
after Joes Crab Shack closed. It subsequently housed the
Chappells Coral Grill North restaurant and then the
Coldwater Landing restaurant, which was open for just a
few months.

Welcome to Fort Frown?
It would seem that with the right
combination of statistics, magazines can
declare a city the best, worst, most or
least of just about anything.
This time, its saddest and you guessed
it - Fort Wayne is on the list.
Mens Health magazine has placed the
city at the No. 46 spot on a list of
Americas 100 Saddest Cities. The publi-
cation graded these frown towns using
numbers from the Centers for Disease
Control and Prevention, the Bureau of
Labor Statistics and an online tool called
SimplyMap to gain insight into the mental
state of residents.
These numbers include suicide and
unemployment rates, the percentage of
households taking antidepressants, and
the number of people who report feeling
the sad all or most of the time.
It seems the saddest city is St. Peters-
burg, Fla., despite having won the
Guinness Book of World Records recog-
nition for 768 straight days of sunshine,
according to Mens Health.
For those who feel they are part of Fort
Waynes frowning, perhaps a trip to
Honolulu, Hawaii is in order. It was
ranked a Blues-proof town by the
magazine.

really the place to go. Its
so welcoming.
She said that women
who attend the socials
have the opportunity to
create lasting friendships.
Theres a good chance
that youre going to make
some lifelong friends,
she said.
In addition to the intro-
ductory socials, the club
also has hobby groups,
just like they did back in
the late 30s.
Keywood described the
hobby groups as one
thing that makes the club
very intimate.
There is a group that
meets for breakfast and
there is a group that meets
for lunch, in addition to
more than one dozen
other hobby groups.
The Newcomers Club
also has a travel hobby
group.
Keywood said the
women who are in the
club are from all over the
world.
We have women that
have moved from in-state,
out-of-state and out of the
country, she said.
We have a really good,
diverse group of women
from all economic back-
grounds.
As current president,
Keywood joined the club
about three years ago as a
newcomer herself.
I thought I want to
find a way to meet other
women, she said.
Where I lived before, I
was very involved in the
community and I knew I
was going to miss that.
Club members can be
part of the group for 5
years.
After five years, there is
a continuing group called
Encore.
You can be in Encore
for as long as you live in
Fort Wayne, Keywood
said.
The Newcomers Club
and Encore do have occa-
sional, co-mingled
activities, where the
women can participate in
hobby groups and events.
When you come into
the club, there will be a
lot of new people, she
said.
If they [members]
decide after 5 years to go
to Encore, youre going to
know a lot of the same
faces.
Keywood looked back
on her experience joining
the group with happiness.
It was a great decision.
I have made so many
friends and I really
thought it felt like this
was home a lot quicker
than had I not joined.

Cartridge World celebrates one
year anniversary
Cartridge World, located on Coldwater
Road, recently reached their one-year
anniversary.
Store owner Tomm Triplett said it has
been an eventful year, having established a
reputation for quality of their remanufac-
tured ink and toner cartridges for home and
office printers. Most of their inks are done
in-house, and the cartridges are thoroughly
cleaned before being remanufactured. This
is a key to having a remanufactured
cartridge that works, he said.
There are now 18 Cartridge World
stores in Indiana, over 650 in the USA,
and 1700 worldwide.The corporate head-
quarters have just moved to suburban
Chicago, and Triplett says this proximity
will be a real asset to his store in Fort
Wayne.
Cartridge World is located on Coldwater
Road, right across Coldwater from Wal-
Mart, in the Cap N Cork center, next to
Papa Johns. Store hours are 9 a.m. to 6
p.m. Mon-Fri and 9 a.m. to 12:00 noon on
Sat. Their phone number is 260.444.5681,
or you can e-mail fortwayne@cartridge-
worldusa.com for a quote or with any
cartridge questions.
