It has been suggested that the name cha cha was
derived from the spanish cha cha meaning
nursemaid or chachar meaning ti chew coca leaves
its done by the feet remaining close to the floor..
The time signature for cha cha is 4/4. Most steps
are taken with pressure on the ball of the foot and
as weight is taken the heel is lowered to the floor.
Dance position will be explained in the description
of the figures as necessary. The important thing to
rember is any position with a handhold is to
maintain the connection so that the dancers can
move together, so to speak even when they are
apart and accomplishing different foot pattern.
