Prime Coat
a) Material as per approval
7 b) Surface shall be clean and dry (to remove all dirt, dust and
other objectionable material)
c) Spraying temperature ( cut back bitumen 50 C- 70 C and
bitumen emulsion 25 C-45 C or as specified. Overheated
more than 10 hours to be rejected or as specified.
d) Application rate (0.5 to 1.0 Liter/m2 or 0.5mm to 1.0mm or
as specified)
e) Left undisturbed for curing and opening to traffic (at least
24 hours or as specified)
Binder Course
a) Design mix approval
b) Trial mix compliance (including trial lay)
c) Laying and rolling temperature (rolling temperature not less
8 than 110 C or as per trial lay)
d) Number of compaction passes as per trial lay
e) Laying thickness as per trial lay (spreading evenly and
without segregation)
f) Tolerance in surface level (±5mm or as specified)
g) Coring for compacted thickness test (number of coring and
tolerance 5mm or as specified)
Tack Coat
9 a) Material as per approval
b) Surface shall be clean and dry ( to remove all dirt, dust
and other objectionable material)
c) Spraying temperature (25C- 45C or as specified)
d) Application rate (0.25 to 0.55 Liter/m2 or 0.25mm to
0.55mm or as specified)
e) Next layer to be laid until the coat achieve a satisfactory
degree of tackiness
Wearing Course
(CAN BE DIFFRED FOR S&P BILLING)
a) Design mix approval
b) Trial mix compliance (including trial lay)
c) Laying and rolling temperature (rolling temperature not less
than 110 C or as per trial lay)
10 d) Number of compaction passes as per trial lay
e) Laying thickness as per trial lay (spreading evenly and
without segregation)
f) Tolerance in surface level (±5mm or as specified)
g) Coring for compacted thickness test (number of coring and
tolerance ±5mm or as specified)
h) Ensure all the cover of underground services to flush with
road finish level
i) Surface condition (no rough surface and no longitudinal
and transverse irregularities/ depression exceeding 15mm
or as specified)
j) Opening to traffic (not less than 4 hours or as specified)
k) Finished level must free from ponding water
