SOSRO is the pioneer of packaged ready-to-drink tea in Indonesia. The name SOSRO is taken from the name of the founding family, namely SOSRODJOJO. In 1940, Sosrodjojo family started their business in a small city in Central Java called Slawi. At the time, the product sold is dried tea with the brand of Teh Cap Botol and it was distributed only around Central Java. In 1953, Sosrodjojo family started to expand their business to enter the capital city Jakarta to introduce Teh Cap Botol products that were already very popular in Central Java. The journey to introduce the Teh Cap Botol product was started by doing CICIP RASA (product tasting) promotions to several markets in Jakarta The promotion was conducted by entering the markets and brewing the Teh Cap Botol tea product on the spot. When the tea was ready, it was distributed to people in situ. This promotion was not too successful as the distributed tea was too hot to drink whilst the brewing process took too long, making those who would like to taste it impatient to wait. The second method was used: tea was not brewed on the spot, but carried already brewed in big pans to the markets using open trucks. Again, this was successful because some of the tea spilled on the way to the market, mostly to the bad, pockmarked road condition in Jakarta at the time. Then, an idea sprang up to carry the brewed tea in cleaned bottles. It turned out that this method was quite interesting for the customers because it was practical and ready to consume without the need to wait for the tea to be brewed. Then, in 1969, the idea to sell ready to drink tea in bottle was f0rmulated, and in 1970, a bottled tea plant of PT SINAR SOSRO was established, the first ever of bottled ready-to-drink tea plant in Indonesia and the world.

The bottle design for Tehbotol Sosro has changed three times:

1. First Version

Released in 1970 with the brand of TEHCAP BOTOL SOFT DRINK SOSRODJOJO 2. Second Version Released in 1972 with the brand of TEH CAP BOTOL (with smaller size for CAP so that people would see more of TEH BOTOL). The phrase SOFT DRINK was taken out, while TEH BOTOL was written in red and white to symbolize that it was a product of Indonesia. The name SOSRODJOJO was shortened into SOSRO within red circle logo. 3. Third Version In 1974, the third change took place. The bottle design was not like the first and second version. Bottle design got new shape and brand name was changed into TEHBOTOL SOSRO. The third design was launched in the wake of the establishment of PT. SINAR SOSROs first plant in Cakung, Jakarta.

White Tea

White tea is the tea type that undergoes no fermentation. Its drying and evaporation process is also very short. White tea is made from selected leaves harvested before fully blossoming. It is called white tea because at the time of picking, leaf sprouts are still enclosed by very soft white hairs. Due to this short process, the content of catechin in white tea is the highest, and it can deter free radicals more effectively than other types and function as antioxidant in the body.White tea is known as the god and goddess of tea as it is picked from the best leaf sprouts. Green Tea Green tea is the type of tea that also undergoes no fermentation process, but it goes through drying process with longer leaf evaporation than white tea. All tea contains catechin, but green tea is now more popular due its higher content of the substance than black tea. Green tea is then known as a tea that can prevent cancer. Other benefits of green tea is that it can prevent and decrease risk of high blood pressure and stroke, reduce bad cholesterol (LDL) level, and smooth skin.

Oolong Tea It is also known as fermented tea. Oolong is taken from a name of Chinese man Wu Long or Oolong. The man discovered the oolong tea accidentally when the tea leaves he picked were left to chase down a deer. When he got back, the tea had been fermented. Other legend says that oolong means black dragon in Chinese since the leaves are similar to little black dragon suddenly awoken when they are brewed.

Just like other types, oolong tea has also healthy benefits that help digestion and cure headache. Moreover, modern research on oolong tea shows that it is effective to control cholesterol level and help reduce blood sugar level. Black Tea Black tea is tea leaves that undergo the longest fermentation process so that their color turn deep black and their aroma is the strongest. Black tea is the most consumed tea in the world (especially by the British). Black tea is believed to have the most benefits such as improving concentration and preventing drowsiness. Jasmine Tea Jasmine tea, also called fragrant tea, is very popular in Indonesia. It is a green tea mixed with jasmine and gambier flowers so that it exudes jasmine aroma, a very unique fragrance. According to research, jasmine tea is good for decreasing cholesterol level and refreshing body.

One of PT. SINAR SOSRO flagship products is Tehbotol Sosro packaged in returnable glass bottle (RGB). The glassbottled Tehbotol Sosro is the first ready-to-drink tea in Indonesia and the world launched for the first time in 1970.

To meet demands of its enthusiasts anywhere, one out of its innovations, Teh botol Sosro, has several packaging variants :

Returnable Glass Bottle with a volume of 220 ml Tetra Pak in 1 Liter,250ml, and 200ml. Pouch with a volume of 150ml Plastic or poly-ethylene (PET) bottle with a volume of 300ml

The new innovation of this product is Tehbotol Sosro Less Sugar that was launched in August 20,2008.This product is available in PET package of 500ml and Tetra Pak of 250ml.And now available in PET package 500 ml for Tehbotol Sosro Regular.

This begins with the production process from the handling of the raw material all the way through to the distribution, meeting the health and safety standards of Indonesia's Health Department. It is this vigilant Quality Management System that has qualified PT Sinar Sosro to be awarded its ISO 9001 : 2000 certificate and its products have also been certified as "Halal" by Indonesian authorities.

Environmental conservation Environmental conservation plays a big role in PT. Sinar Sosro's business process. It regularly analyzes the impact of its operations on the environments; conduct surveys and assessments before building a new factory or adding production capacity to an existing factory and taking care to minimize the impact and maximize the careful disposal of any industrial waste. Today, each of our factories is facilitated with stateof-the-art wastewater treatment, so that the water is safe to the environment and our consumers. Any broken bottles are gathered in our bottling factory and recycled. In addition, all of our tea dregs from each factory are processed into compost, which is then used as fertilizer on the tea farm. Clots in the blood that comes from cholesterol causes heart attacks and strokes. Tea can help smooth the flow of blood and clean it. A Dutch study found that people who drank tea at least 2 times a day 70% less likely to experience a heart attack. Tea protects the bones. Not only milk that is added to tea that can strengthen your bones. There is research that found that people who have been drinking tea for more than 10 years to

have strong bones. This may be caused by the phytochemicals contained in tea. Tea provides a beautiful smile. It was not tea that causes tooth decay, but the sugar is mixed in it that has an adverse effect on teeth. Tea contains fluoride which distances itself from dental plaque. So, add fresh tea on your routine in keeping teeth and gums. Tea increases your body's defenses. Drinking tea may help your body's defenses to avoid infection. Tea protects against cancer. Tea contains polyphenols, antioxidants found in tea, which can protect the body from cancer. Tea can keep your body hydrated. During these drinks that contain caffeine can not be categorized in the beverages that contribute to the body fluids. But the researchers found was that caffeinated beverages can contribute the same fluid with other beverages. Tea is calorie free. Tea contains no calories, unless you add sweetener or milk. Consuming 250 fewer calories per day will be able to lose weight by about 1 / 2 pounds per week. Tea increases your metabolism. Tea, especially green tea, can increase your metabolism. You can burn approximately 70-80 additional calories by drinking just five cups of green tea every day.
