Installing the ChartCo software oceanMaster
Pre-installation checks
Before any software is installed it is essential that you carry out the following checks on the ChartCo
receiver and PC:
1. Check that the data cable from the receiver is connected to an available 9-pin serial port on the
rear of the PC.
2. Check that the RF input cable from the Inmarsat ADE/BDE (or FTU) is connected to the TNC
connector on the rear of the receiver.
3. Ensure that the Inmarsat ADE /BDE equipment is functioning correctly.
4. Check that both the receiver and PC are switched ON.
5. Confirm that a signal strength reading is being displayed on the receiver’s LCD display. This
takes the form of bars on the display and should be showing between 6 and 8 bars. See
Receiver Menu (in the user Handbook)
6. Confirm that the receiver is set to its default menu. From default menu you can see the signal
strength, data type and whether it is storing data (BUF) or sending data to the PC (OUT). Prior
to the installation of the software it should be reading BUF.
You are now ready to begin the software installation.
