A BOX OF MEMORIES
A box full of memories—that is what I call our lovely sweet home. A home full of
love and happiness built by my parents. A home where I grew up, had
experiences, and gained new knowledge. This rectangular house was built by my
grandparents who worked hard to provide us all the things we have today. I still
remember the date that we moved to this house, it was on February 15 th 2013. Of
course we knew that moving into new house is undoubtly exciting because of
new things you will learned but is hard and challenging to adjust to a new
environment.
Our house consist of five floors. The first floor features the lovely and cozy living
room that welcomes everyone with open arms, as well as the kitchen, that is not
overly big, making it perfect for everyday family conversations, especially when
my mom yells at me whenever I failed my exams, I did something wrong, and
didn’t wash the dishes. This is where you will gonna smell the aroma of my
grandmothers’ home-cooked meals for everyday that fills up our tummy. I will rate
this part of our house a “5-Outstanding” not just because of the designs that my
family did but also because of the kindness it do whenever there is a random
visitor that asks for a cup of water or a food, Making it the most satisfying, beautiful,
and my favorite place in our house.
As I ascend to the second floor, the ambiance shifts significantly. Here, you will
found the bedrooms emerge—spacious sanctuaries that provides retreat from the
day. The natural light coming through the windows creates a shining atmosphere,
perfect for unwinding after a long and tiring day. This is where my bedroom is
located, designed by myself, adorned with my personal mementos and
photographs that canvases the happenings in my life.
Continuing to the third and the fourth floor this theme of comfort and individuality
remains the same. Each room tells its own story, from late-night study and work
sessions to quiet moments of reflection, reminiscing, and overthinking. The soft
colors of the walls envelops me, making a peaceful environment. Each family
member’s room embrace its unique canvas making them to feel more
comfortable in their surroundings, making me to rate it a “4-Very Good” because
of the ambiance it gives whenever we go upstairs it gives me a very refreshing
vibes when I see the soft-colors of it.
The materials and furnishings throughout out house are well picked and chosen
by my family regarding to their personal style. Rating it a “4-Very-Good” because
we personally chose the design of the assigned rooms on us, like the floors, they
are designed by my grandparents that are made of highly polished and durable
tiles. The walls are painted by my parents, they painted with soft colors that are
handpicked by my siblings regarding to what colors they wanted. A metal frame
and a glass table in our living room is picked and designed by my grandfather.
These materials did not only contributes to the visual appearance of our home but
also enhance the overall ambiance, creating our house more lively and vibrant.
Our home is situated in a small area in Balut, Tondo Manila, with a very loud but
friendly neighborhood that complements the warmth of our community. The
sound of children playing outside, the neighbors chatting and meddling onto
someone else’s life, and neighbors arguments on whos’ trash is on their doorway.
Rating it a solid “5-Outstanding” because our house is plotted at a inside lot
making a very good roadway. Also because of the community we are currently
in, loving each other, giving gift’s to everyone at Christmas and also the kindness
they give to strangers.
Regarding to security, I would just rate it a “3-Good” because in our community
we have barangay tanods but it does not do its job as it should be done.
Sometimes there is a robbery happening to my neighbor house. But in our house
our security is always at its finest, locking our door with triple doorknob lock and
double checking it to make sure. As we all know that in Tondo, Manila robberies
are still not resolved by the government officials making us feel terrified and
scared.
In conclusion, my home is more than just a physical structure; it is a treasure box
of sweet memories, love, and experiences that have shaped who I am. From the
welcoming living room that embraces visitors with warmth to the serene
bedrooms that offer solace after long days, each space tells a unique story. The
careful design choices made by my family reflect our individual personalities and
shared history, creating an environment that feels both vibrant and comforting.
While challenges like security remind us of the realities outside, the strength of our
community and the bonds we share within these walls make every moment
special. Ultimately, this house stands as a testament to our family's hard work, love,
and resilience—a true sanctuary that will forever hold a special place in my heart.
