Bellmans To Auction Single Owner House Sale

On Saturday 10th March, Bellmans in Billingshurst, West Sussex will offer for sale the antique and modern contents of a luxury and substantial house including an eclectic mix of artwork, furnishings and collectables. Highlights include a whip from the Indiana Jones film series, the Bocca Marilyn Lips Sofa and contemporary furniture by the cabinet makers, Senior & Carmichael. The sale will commence at 10am with viewing the day before and from 8.30am on the day of the sale. This collection, which has come to us via Stancliffe & Glover (fine art agents & valuers) is unusual in that it comprises a large quantity of high quality modern furnishings that would normally not reach the auction market so soon. It includes a dining table to seat sixteen, a pair of console tables and display cabinets by Senior & Carmichael, which have a modern look and are beautifully constructed, but could also prove to be a shrewd investment. Similarly, the collection of Murano glass includes impressive examples, which would boost any collection. The opportunity to offer for sale an Indiana Jones Whip - hand crafted by David Morgan and estimated to realise 2000 - 3000 exemplifies the diversity of collectable objects on The auction includes the red Bocca Marilyn Lips Sofa, designed by Studio 65 and manufactured by Edra (illustrated). This sofa is a modern reproduction based on the Salvador Dali Mae West sofa of 1936, which became one of the most talked about objects to enter the art market during the Surrealist movement.
