At whAt point did you become interested in politics? whAt mAde you decide to run? Were really getting into the foundation of our platform when we talk about censorship and how the UVSS has known whats best for the students in the past. Take the DND recruitment scandal of 2007, for instance. If you dont want to join the military then dont; no one is twisting your arm. Students have the right to choose their own career path, and censoring their options isnt the way the UVSS should operate. would you consider pursuing politics beyond the scope of A university setting? No, not likely. which federAl politicAl pArty do your support/ feel most closely reflects your politics? Strangers shouldnt mind which party I support, as it doesnt really pertain to UVSS elections. hAve you ever been to A boArd meeting? To love having a say in these matters is one thing, but board meeting have never really fit my schedule. I live about 2 hours from campus and often have late labs. For these reasons, I have yet to attend one. whAt is your position on uvics smoking policy thAt bAns smoking inside ring roAd? You know the rules, and so do I when it comes to smoking in the ring, even though I still see people doing it. It should be enforced if its going to be in place, you cant go at this kind of thing 50%. As voter turnout, pArticipAtion, etc? You wouldnt get this from the SUB, its made of paper, and the UVSS doesnt like it: Macleans magazine, of course! Id like to lift the ban on reading materials in the SUB. I dont personally read MacLeans, but once again I dont see why were censoring it. Maybe if the UVSS was more tolerant of other peoples opinions there would be a greater voter turnout. [Editors note: The boycott on Macleans after the publication of the Too Asian article expired at the end of last years board term and the magazine is currently available in the SUB] whAt do you plAn on doing After grAduAtion And whAt kind of skills do you hope to Acquire on the uvss boArd? Any other guy you ask might not know for sure, but Im joining the military when I graduate. I hope to get experience with conflict management and leadership while on the UVSS board. if you were to creAte Any course At uvic, whAt would it be And why?
