At whAt point did you become interested in politics? whAt mAde you decide to run? I have been interested in politics as long as I remember. I originally ran as UVSS Pride Rep in 2009, because there was a vacancy. Since then, I have striven to provide an alternate view point on the Board, because I believe that when all sides of an issue have a say, better progress is made in resolving issues. I also think it is important to fight for individual liberty and individual rights, and I think sometimes individual freedom is sacrificed for the sake of political expediency. would you consider pursuing politics beyond the scope of A university setting? It has crossed my mind. My dream is to become a US citizen and run for Congress, but I dont think that will happen. which federAl politicAl pArty do your support/ feel most closely reflects your politics? None of them, reallyI guess I would be described as an independent. Besides, the UVSS is a non-partisan entity. hAve you ever been to A boArd meeting? Yes, I am a current Board member. whAt is your position on uvics smoking policy thAt bAns smoking inside ring roAd? I think there should be some places where At the boArd level, whAt chAnges cAn be mAde to increAse the uvss visibility on cAmpus, such As voter turnout, pArticipAtion, etc? people cant smoke, such as outside food services and building doors and so on, but there shouldnt be a blanket ban inside the Ring of something that is legal. There should be more events located in high traffic areas such as the Quad. The UVSS should table more in areas that are not in the SUB, and there should be more info sessions on subjects like how students money is spent by the board, resume building, housing information and students rights. whAt do you plAn on doing After grAduAtion And whAt kind of skills do you hope to Acquire on the uvss boArd? I am planning on going to Graduate School to earn a Masters degree, and potentially a PhD. Politics isnt out of the question, and the skills that I have gained on the Board of Directors will help considerably. if you were to creAte Any course At uvic, whAt would it be And why? I think a course dedicated to the analysis of the US Declaration of Independence would be really interesting. whAt is the best coffee on cAmpus? Munchie Bar, of course.

whAt is victoriAs first trAnsit priority? More buses on the busy routes, which would help to eliminate pass-ups.
