SEMI - DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN EPP 6

I. OBJECTIVES

At the end of this lesson, the pupils should be able to:


 Identify different the tools used for sewing.
 Use the different tools according to their own characteristics.

GUESS ME!
A. Teacher will show
pictures/illustrations. Students will guess of what type of tool is in the picture
and tell the function of it. Is that clear class?
First Picture:
Tape measure – used for taking body measurements, as well as for drafting
patterns and measuring fabric.

Second Picture:
Needle – used to carry a thread of some kind through a piece of cloth or related
material

Third Picture:
Thread – is used to join cut components together using a sewing machine and
deliver aesthetics and performance in stitches and seams.

Fourth Picture:
Scissors – used to cut out patterns, fabrics, and excess thread.

C. Presentation

TOOLS AND MATERIALS

Measuring Tools
Tape Measure – is a measurement tool used for taking body measurements to
produce well-fitting clothes and pants. This is usually made of cloth or plastic.

Meter or Yard Stick – this is used to measure fabric.

Cutting Tools
Embroidery Scissor – are small scissor designed for needle work.
Dressmaking Shears – is used for cutting heavy fabric. It has uneven
shapes of handles.
Sewing Scissor – is a cutting tool use for trimming seams and facing
Stitch Ripper – it is a small tool made of metal used to remove stitches.

Marking Tools
Tailor’s Chalk – this is an orange colored hard square wax used for marking
guidelines or sewing lines in fabric.
Soft Pencil – this is used in drawing linens in pattern construction.

Sewing Tools
Needle – a small thin object that is used in sewing and that has a sharp point
at one end and a hole for thread. There have different sizes and used in
sewing to pass through the cloth either by hand or machine.
Pins - A sharp pointed tip used for a variety of purposes such as holding
pattern pieces, fit fabric or garment on the body, hold fabric together, and
secure lace, sequins or bread.
Pins Cushion – it is used to keep needles and pins in place when not in use.
Thread – is used for stitching cloth either by hand or machine and comes in
different colors and thickness.
Needle Threader – aids in inserting the thread into the eye of the needle.
