Q3 Why you have ticked this specific safety precaution?
The permit issuer must tick safety precautions according to the job nature written in the work permit description and the
permitreceiver must know why these precautions are mandatory and ensure safety precautions are appropriately taken during
the job.

auditor that is written in the work permit description.

Ans: The revision number can be found on the top of the first page
of theJSA/Method statement.

Q7 After revision what changes were made in the method statement/JSA and where these changes are added in the
Methodstatement/JSA?
Permit issuer/Receiver must know the changes made after review and I can be found them on the CRS (Comment Resolution
Sheet)of the method statement
Q8 How you have written the control measures in the JSA?
Your answer must be specific as per job step (i.e. working at height activity and worker could fall from height that iswhy
mandatory precautions guard rail, lifeline, safe access/egress, and PPE (full body harness) written in the JSA.
Q9 How many workers working under this permit? or How many work permits have you Issued/received for this area or how
many permits are under your custody?
Permit Issuer/Receiver may forget this information due to construction activities they must note this information in their
notebook.

Q1 What are the role and responsibilities of the permit issuer and receiver?
• Ensure that the PTW is correct and complete with relevant documents, State the specific work to be done, equipment to be
used, and work site location on the work permit.
• Before issuing and closing the permit Joint site inspection including the completion of the Hazard Analysis Checklist, is to be
conducted
• Issuer complete all sections and tick the appropriate boxes and monitor the job site frequently.
• Ensure gas tests conducted for the presence of combustible or toxic gases and proper oxygen levels
• Cancel active permits and immediately stop work if a change occurs in the work activities.
• Ensure that workers wear all personal protective equipment (PPE) stated on the work permit
• Post PTW near the working area
• Receiver remains at the job site and monitors the work to make sure all work permit conditions and applicable SA safety
andHealth requirements are being met.

Q2 What is a work permit Or What is a work permit definition?


A formal written document of authority to undertake the specific procedure, designed to protect personnel working in
hazardous/non-hazardous areas or activities.”
Q3 What is the GI number of the Work permit system Or what is GI?

G.I 002.100 The purpose of this General Instruction (GI) is to establish minimum requirements for issuing/receivingwork
permits at Saudi Aramco (SA) facilities and project sites.

Q4 What is a Hazard analysis checklist Or How do you conduct a joint inspection?


It is a tool used by Issuer/Receiver in performing hazard assessments, The main purpose of a Hazard analysis checklist is to
identify potential health and safety hazards by examining conditions or practices in the workplace.
Q5 What supporting documents need to be attached with the work permit?
Method statement and JSA are mandatory with the permit and other documents depending on the job nature. i.e., lifting
plan, rescue plan, heat stress plan, internal or third-party certification, and checklist (crane or excavation).
Q6 What is the JSA and Method statement?
Job Safety Analysis (JSA) is a systematic procedure that breaks each job in sequence and identifies and controls hazards
associated with a certain job. A method statement is a document that describes how to do a task safely.
Q7 What is the definition of Hot work and the safety requirements of a hot work permit?
Any activity that may develop spark, flames, or heat sufficient to cause ignition- E.g. Welding, cutting, heavy equipment work
Requirements for hot work are mentioned below but are not limited. Area barricade, Fire protection equipment (e.g., fire
extinguishers), and fire watch shall be assigned, and combustible material around the work area shall be removed or protected
againstsparks using fireproof material or by wetting
Q8 What is the confined space and what are the safety requirements of a CSE permit?
Not designed for continuous human occupancy, limited access or egress, oxygen-deficient or flammable atmosphere, and
excavation deeper than 1.2 meters.

Requirements of CSE are mentioned below but not limited. Written safe work procedure, obtained a valid permit, assign
trained standby man, confined space entry supervisor (CSES), all equipment and sources of energy and hazardous materials
shall be isolated, Atmospheric gas testingshall be performed, safe access/egress to be provided.

Q9 What are the safety requirement for lifting, work at height, and excavation?
Lifting Requirements: Hot Work Permit, Certified operator and rigger, an inspection of lifting gears, the validity of crane 3rd
party, daily checklist of the crane. No lifting operation if the wind speed exceeds 32 km/h, Always use the tagline, Barricade
lifting area,Never move the load over the pedestrian and avoid the line of fire.
Working at Height requirements: WAH plan, valid work permit, fall protection systems (i.e., temporary scaffolding or
permanent platforms with a complete guardrail system consisting of top rails, mid rails, and toe boards provided at all open
edges), and personal fall arrest systems (full body harness with anti-trauma).
Excavation safety requirements: Excavation plan, valid work permit, rescue plan, perform a documented excavation
inspection, barricade the excavation to protect individuals and mobile operating equipment with blinking warning lights, safe
access
Q10 What is the line of fire?
Situations where workers put themselves in harm's way by virtue of the type of work they are carrying out. Line of fire injuries
occurs when the path of a moving object or the release of hazardous energy intersects with an individual’s body.
E.g. Standing under the suspended load, putting a hand near unguarded moving/rotating machine parts, etc.
Q11 What are CSSP, HIP, and CSM?
CSSP-Contractor Site Safety Program (CSSP) is applicable to the Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) management for
contractors and their subcontractors during construction.
 State general description of HSE management system
 Define the HSE responsibilities of each department or person in charge.
 Provide support for HSE training
 Be a basis for assessing the HSE management system
 Provide HSE information to stakeholders
This plan addresses the ways and means to identify and manage HSE risks during all phases of the contract and to ensure
compliance with client HSE requirements. To achieve this all employees, including sub-contractors will actively participate
and strive to identify and manage HSE risks with the goal of preventing accidents, injuries occupational illness and
progressively minimizing the environmental impacts.
HIP-Hazard identification plan is part of the process used to evaluate and list all tasks/activities associated with the contracted
work, potential hazards of each activity, and control measures to mitigate these hazards. The contractor’s HIP shall identify all
potential hazards associated with the work to be performed.
CSM- Construction Safety Manual Saudi Aramco’s contractual requirements for management of safety by the contractor
company and minimum safety-related requirements for job-site activities.
Saudi Aramco is committed to the prevention of incidents to minimize loss of life and bodily injury to its employees and
contractor/subcontractor employees, prevent damage to physical assets and protect the public against hazards resulting from
its operations. In support of this commitment, the Saudi Aramco LPD publishes the Construction Safety Manual (CSM). and
describes the safety standards for all facilities, activities, and locations involved in the construction.
