Definition of Scaffolding.

Scaffolding also knew as staging is the temporary hard structure

or a temporary platform which is made of timber, still or bamboo.

This is being used in order to support the construction workers in

working with different heights. It also used to support materials

especially when cleaning or repairing the building and machines.

Scaffolding has several types.

*Patented Scaffolding

Patented scaffoldings are usually equipped with frames as well as

couplings. This is commonly made of steel and is ready-made.

This type of platform was arranged particularly on brackets so

that it can adjust to any level.

*Trestle Scaffolding

The usual working platform in this type of scaffolding is supported

by ladders or movable tripods. This is basically used when

working inside the house or a room. The height of trestle

scaffolding is up to 5m.

*Cantilever Scaffolding
Cantilever scaffolding is also a type of scaffolding which is

supported by a number of needles. This type of scaffolding is

usually under conditions including when the upper part of a

particular wall is being repaired or under construction, when the

ground is near any wall or when it does not have the ability to

support any standard.

*Steel Scaffolding

This is made of steel tubes and fixed together by fittings or steel

couplers. Steel scaffolding is easy to dismantle or to construct.

Compare to other scaffolding it is more durable, has enough

strength and very high in fire resistance. Although it is not that

economical it can guarantee you that it is safe to use.

*Suspended Scaffolding

The working platform of this type of scaffolding is temporarily

suspended from the roofs by the help of the chains or by wire

ropes. Suspended scaffolding can be lowered or even raised to

the required level. This is being used for paintings, repair works

and for pointing.

*Double Scaffolding
Double scaffolding is also known as Mason’s scaffolding since it is

commonly used for masonry. In this type of scaffolding two rows

were constructed in order for the scaffolding to be strong. Putlogs

are also placed and were supported by frames. To make the

scaffolding more strong, cross braces, as well as rakes, are

provided.
