Specification
British Coal Specifications: 295 for 635/1000 V and 1.9/3.3kV cables and 656 for
3.8/6.6 kV and 6.35/11 kV cables.

Number of cores
635/1000V: 2-, 3- and 4-core.
Other voltages: 3-core only.

Conductors
All conductors are stranded. For voltages up to and including 3.8/6.6 kV conductors
are shaped except as indicated in the tables. For 6.35/11 kV all conductors are circular.

Insulation
PVC for 635/1000V and 1.9/3.3 kV cables.
EPR for 3.8/6.6kV and 6.35/11 kV cables.

Core screens
1.9/3.3 kV cables may be screened or unscreened.

3.8]6.6k V and 6.35111 k V cables

These cables have conductor and core screens. Conductor screens consist of extruded
semiconducting compound. Insulation screens comprise a layer of semiconducting
material plus a copper tape.
