Marghy Rehders Purpose statement classwork 1.

) The larger themes I want to portray are; love, courage, terrorism, tragedy, and triumph. These themes are all going to intertwine and play out together. Terrorism is ugly and that will be easily be portrayed due to my story/concept revolving around 9/11/01. Tragedy will take place when my main character sees people around him that he knows and works with dying and being burried beneath rubble. However, he shows his true courage when he escapes the burning buildings and helps evacuate as many people as he can, despite the extreme danger and risk he is facing. Amongst all of this he also meets a woman who he later falls in love with, portraying the theme of love and triumph amidst tragedy. 2.) Race, terrorism, religion, freedom and equality are all social issues going on at the time of the terrorist attacks on September 11th, 2001. These social issues are what ultimately caused these attacks, yet at the same time these attacks only increased these social issues. 3.) I wish to show the perspective of those who experienced and survived the attacks on the World Trade Center on 9/11/01. I want to do this because I want my audience to see some of the positive outcomes of 9/11, though it is very difficult to believe this could be possible. My statement about this event is that there were many tales of bravery and triumph on that day that we do not and will probably never know about unless we experienced it firsthand. 4.) What is different about how I'm conveying my idea is that I have two main character with a separate background story and lead two separate lives. I am showing how the horrible events of 9/11 intertwined the lives of these two strangers and actually formed something beautiful; love. It is funny how such a horrific tragedy can change someone's life for the better. I am not going to focus on the people who died on 9/11, instead I'm going to focus on the unknown details of a couple survivors. 5.) My main characters are going to paint the picture for my story. I am going to tell the whole story through their eyes. 6.) My plot and events revolve around the 9/11/01 terrorist attacks. This will contribute to my unique perspective because these were attacks that affected a lot of people worldwide, and a topic that intrigues many people. Being that my plot is also revolved around two people falling in love, it is definitely unique that two people could find romance and love in the midst

of terror and death. 7.) My characters contribute to my unique perspective because the story is through their eyes. 8.) I want my readers to understand the bravery and courage that took place in NYC on September 11th, 2001. I also want people to see that tight bonds were formed amongst complete strangers who all banned together in order to fight for eachothers' survival and safety. I want my readers to see some positive light shined on the horrible events of 9/11.
