Title: Community development and cultural continuity of Aeta Mag-antsi and Aeta Mag-indi
tribes.
Subtitle: An Indigenous Approach in Rebuilding Community Life and Preserving the
Identity of the Aeta Mag-indi and Aeta Mag-antsi Tribes in Porac, Pampanga
Background of the Study
The indigenous people of Porac, Pampanga, the Aeta Mag-indi and Aeta Mag-antsi
tribes, are an integral part of the Philippines' rich cultural legacy. Their communities have
prospered for many years since to their close ties to their ancestral lands, distinctive customs,
indigenous knowledge, and a strong sense of belonging. Their social structure and general
well-being are based on this cultural identity, which is more than just a historical artifact.
However, the Aeta people are confronted with formidable obstacles that impact their
cultural continuity and their being. Aeta communities are currently facing tremendous
obstacles that could endanger their existence. The increasing impacts of climate change,
including as intense droughts and strong typhoons, have pushed them from their ancestral
lands and disturbed their traditional farming and foraging livelihoods.
In addition, to these natural hazards the Aeta people face constant discrimination and
a significant lack of access to essential utilities like electricity and clean water. Their health
becomes a risk, their access to school is restricted, and creating a solid future is all but
impossible as a result of this systemic neglect. Many Aeta have therefore moved to cities in
search of a better life, only to face further adversity. They are frequently denied opportunity,
live in poverty, and occasionally end up having to beg there.
By creating a community that is both sustainable and culturally rooted, this project
seeks to address current issues that the Aeta people faced. A comprehensive approach
centered on livelihood development, cultural revitalization, and improved social, health, and
educational services will be used to accomplish this. Assuring sustainable access to
necessities like electricity and water is a key element of the project, laying the foundation for
the Aeta community to live a dignified and healthy life.
In order to help the Aeta Mag-indi and Aeta Mag-antsi tribes in restoring their culture,
this project is important. The project will help preserve their unique culture and traditions by
giving them the support they need to overcome any challenges and laying the foundation for
a secure and prosperous existence in their ancestral land.
Statement of the Problem
There is a serious threat to the livelihoods of the Aeta Mag-indi and Aeta Mag-antsi
tribes in Porac, Pampanga. Their communities are in difficulties, unable to properly preserve
their identity and create a sustainable future, while having a rich and resilient cultural history.
The basic way of life of the Aeta Mag-indi and Aeta Mag-antsi tribes is at risk due to
a serious, multifaceted catastrophe. A terrible confluence of socioeconomic, cultural, and
environmental issues is the root cause of this issue. The effects of external development and
climatic change are forcing them off their ancestral grounds, disrupting their traditional
means of subsistence. They also face discrimination and a lack of essential utilities like
electricity, clean water, and medical care. These stresses often end up in urban migration,
where a new set of challenges, such as poverty, exploitation, and the loss of cultural identity,
face many Aeta.
The outcome is a vicious cycle of weakening of communal ties, economic instability,
and cultural loss. The distinctive cultural identity of the Aeta Mag-indi and Aeta Mag-antsi
tribes is in risk of disappearing in the absence of a thorough and ongoing intervention, and
their communities will continue to fight their being. A project that empowers the Aeta people
to revitalize their culture and create a secure, respectable, and sustainable community
is needed in order to address these related issues.

Subtitle: Muslim Settlement and Community Development for Muslims in Informal
Settlements in San Jose del Monte, Bulacan
Background of the Study
Historically, Muslims have been in the Philippines since the 13th century, before
Christianity arrived. While Islam is traditionally associated with the southern regions,
particularly Mindanao, centuries of internal migration and economic factors have resulted in
the formation of major Muslim communities throughout the country, including Central
Luzon.
Bulacan, in particular, has the highest concentration of Muslims in Central Luzon.
However, despite their number a significant portion of this community struggles with socio
economic issues. Due to their lack of access to essential amenities and secure land tenure,
many Muslim families live in informal settlements. These living circumstances put people at
higher risk for man-made and natural disasters, such as fires, floods, and inadequate
sanitation. Their health and well-being are directly harmed by inadequate infrastructure and a
respectable living space, which feeds the cycle of vulnerability and poverty.
This project is to build a comprehensive model for community development and
Muslim settlements. It will offer a comprehensive strategy that combines secure and
respectable housing with necessary community services, aiming to go beyond providing
mere housing. This involves providing access to sanitary facilities, clean water, and medical
facilities. In order to ensure that the new settlement creates a resilient, self-sufficient, and
prosperous community that is completely integrated into the modern society while preserving
its unique cultural and religious identity, the project will focus on economic empowerment
initiatives, cultural preservation programs, and educational support.
Statement of the Problem
The Muslim community in Bulacan, where many families live in informal
settlements, faces urgent difficulties that this project aims to address. These communities are
known for their poor housing conditions and a high vulnerability to man-made and natural
disasters. In addition to poses serious health hazards, this unstable living situation separates
the community and limits access to essential services like healthcare, education, and
employment prospects.
The primary problem is the absence of a comprehensive, culturally aware
development that successfully addresses these problems. The project proposes establishing a
new Muslim community and community development project as a solution. In order to create
a resilient and prosperous community while respecting its own cultural identity, this project
would do more than just provide houses; it would also incorporate necessary services and
encourage social and economic empowerment.
