5th grade Physical Education

Welcome back to school!!!!! My name is Dennis Anderson and I will be your childrens new 5th grade P.E. teacher. I am a brand new teacher, but I am very excited to be teaching these young minds. I have a bachelors degree in Elementary Education and am currently attending night classes to get bachelors of Secondary Education. I have coached wrestling at Jefferson Middle School and at Caldwell High School since I was 18 years old, and I believe that I can keep your children in great shape and by the end of the school year I will have them prepared for the activities that they will be doing in middle and high school. CLASSROOM BEHAVIOR: All students will display manners and the ability to play alongside other children of the same age group. Disruptive behavior will not be tolerated because it impedes the leaning and development of the other children.

A good education should leave much to be desired -Alan Gregg

PARENTAL INVOLVMENT: Parents are encouraged to have their children play outside and do activities outdoors while at home because it will help implant the things that they learn in this class in a different environment than the school setting where it is required. UNITS IN THE CLASS: We will go through 6 units throughout the class. The first unit will be kickball, the second will be baseball, the third will be volleyball, the fourth will be bad mitten, the fifth will be soccer, and the sixth and final unit will be a track and field. The students will learn the basics of all of these sports and will be expected to participate in them as an individual and as a group if necessary. TECHNOLOGY IN THE CLASSROOM: There will not be much technology used in my classroom, for I believe that Physical Education happens through seeing and doing, not necessarily watching on a screen. The children in my class will learn the activities that we choose to do through interaction with one another.

CLASSROOM GOALS: By the end of the year students will gain many things out of this class, such as: being able to use motor functions to do very fundamental complex movements like throwing a ball, or dancing. They will know the basics about health, and what it takes to be healthy in life. The will also be able to participate in various physical activities like baseball/softball, or kickball.
