1. GENERAL
1.1. ATIS
D-ATIS 127.450

1.2. RWY OPERATIONS


RWY 12/30 is available for ACFT up to code C only.

1.3. TAXI PROCEDURES


180^ turn on RWY not permitted for ACFT with code letter C and above on RWYs,
except for departure from the extremity of RWY 07 only via TWY K.
TWYs E, Q2 and taxilane H (between TWYs E and D1) available for ACFT with
MAX code letter C.
TWYs B (between TWYs G and K), C, D, D1, G, taxilane H (between TWYsD1 and
K), J, M, N5, V, Y and Z available for ACFT with MAX code letter E.
TWYs A, K, N (between TWYs P and Q, between TWYs Q and R and South side
between TWYs Q1 and N3), N1, N3, P, P1, Q, Q1, R (East side between TWYs Q
and R3 and West side between TWYs P and S), R1, R3, S and U are available for
ACFT with MAX code letter F.
TWY T available for ACFT with a MAX wingspan of 95'/29m.
TWY T1 restricted to ACFT with a MAX outer main gear wheelspan of 20'/6m and
MAX wingspan of 59’/18m.
TWYs L1, L2 and L3 available for ACFT with a MAX wingspan of 124'/38m.
TWY M exit speed MAX 40 KT.
All ACFT shall minimize RWY occupancy time.
ACFT not to demand time to touch down and direct routing, ATC will issue this
whenever practicable.

1.4. APT COLLABORATIVE DECISION MAKING (A-CDM)


1.4.1. A-CDM START-UP/PUSH-BACK PROCEDURE
ACFT must be ready for start-up at Target Off-Block Time (TOBT). Contact Deliv-
ery and request for Pre-Departure Clearance between Target Start-up Approval
Time (TSAT) -15 minutes to TSAT -5 minutes (Blue zone). Contact Ground for
start-up/push-back between TSAT -5 minutes and TSAT +5 minutes (Green zone),
subject to change over from Delivery.
The system may prepone TSAT up to TOBT.
If by TSAT +5 minutes (Red zone after TSAT + 5 minutes), ATC has not received
start-up/push-back request, ACFT will lose its position in sequence.
ATC should normally be able to issue start-up/push-back at TSAT, pilots will be
informed by ATC if there is a delay.
Taxi clearance shall be requested within 5 minutes of start-up/push-back
approval time. If this has not occurred, Ground must be notified of the extent of
delay. In such cases, ACFT may lose its departure slot and new TOBT may be
required.

1.5. PARKING INFORMATION


All stands are power-in/push-back.
Lead-in lines for parking stands 43, 44 and 45 are continuous yellow.
Lead-in lines for stands 43L, 43R, 44L, 44R and 45L are broken yellow.
Visual Docking Guidance System (VDGS) available for primary and secondary
stands.

1. GENERAL
1.6. ADVANCED SURFACE MOVEMENT GUIDANCE AND CONTROL
SYSTEM (A-SMGCS)
1.6.1. TRANSPONDER OPERATING PROCEDURES ON GROUND
[Link]. GENERAL
A-SMGCS using Mode S multi-lateration has been commissioned.
When on ground, ACFT must squawk Mode C, in order to provide altitude informa-
tion to the surveillance system, and thereby prevent clutter on RADAR display
and false automatic detection of departure for ACFT still on ground.
[Link]. ARRIVAL
When on RWY, keep TCAS selected.
After vacating RWY, select transponder or equivalent and AUTO if available.
TCAS shall be deselected when vacating RWY.
When parked on stand, select STBY.
[Link]. DEPARTURE
At gate/stand, select STBY.
Enter discrete SSR code received. Enter three letter ICAO designator followed by
flight identification number (e.g. AIC748) through FMS or transponder control
panel, depending on the avionics.
On requesting push-back/taxi (whichever is earlier), select transponder or equiv-
alent and AUTO if available.
After receiving clearance to line up, select TCAS when lining up.

1.7. LOW VISIBILITY PROCEDURE (LVP)


LVP will be implemented when RVR/VIS fall below 550m/800m and/or ceiling is
200' or below.
ATC shall include "Low visibility procedure in force" in ATIS broadcast.
Pilots shall inform ATC that "RVR within minima for LVTO" while requesting
push-back/start-up.
LVP can be terminated when RVR/VIS are 550m/800m or more and ceiling is 200’
or more and the trend indicates further improvement in visibility.
On termination of LVP tower shall include "Low visibility procedure cancelled" in
ATIS broadcast.

1.8. OTHER INFORMATION


ACFT to normally execute Rate One Turns as far as practicable.
Tow-bar required for all ACFT types operating through Chennai International APT.
Non-Scheduled operators requiring night parking at Chennai International APT
should obtain prior clearance due to parking space shortage.

2. ARRIVAL
2.1. SPEED RESTRICTIONS
2.1.1. SPEED CONTROL PROCEDURES IN THE PROVISION OF RADAR CONTROL
SERVICE
For detailed information, affecting several major APTs, refer to ATC pages
INDIA.

2.2. RWY OPERATIONS


2.2.1. HIGH INTENSITY RWY OPERATIONS (HIRO)
Pilots should minimise the use of reverse thrust after landing to reduce distur-
bance in areas adjacent to the aerodrome.
The preferred exit TWY to vacate RWY 07 is TWY Z for ACFT upto code C and
TWYY for ACFT code D and above. The preferred exit TWY to vacate RWY 25 is
TWY M. If unable inform ATC as early as possible.
When vacating RWY, contact GND unless otherwise instructed by TWR.

2.3. PARKING PROCEDURES


ACFT arriving at allotted stand need not contact ATC for reporting this.

2.4. OTHER INFORMATION


2.4.1. COMMUNICATION FAILURE UNDER RADAR VECTORS
If radio communication failure takes place prior to interception of final APCH
track, ACFT should maintain last assigned altitude or 3000’ whichever is higher
and proceed to MMV VOR via shortest route to join holding procedure.
If radio communication failure takes place after intercepting final APCH track,
ACFT may continue approach, if visual, and land or go around and carry out
missed APCH procedure and join MMV VOR holding procedure.
After entering holding, carry out published ILS or VOR procedure for RWY 07.

3. DEPARTURE
3.1. PUSH-BACK PROCEDURES
After push-back from stands 61 thru 104, ACFT shall pull forward and align abeam
the stand it was pushed back from.

3.2. TAXI PROCEDURES


All departures for RWY 07 entering via TWY K to depart from TWY K intersection
without backtracking on RWY. ACFT requiring full length shall inform ATC prior
to start-up request.
ACFT CAT C departing from RWY 25 shall use TWY C for line-up and take-off.
Contact ATC prior to push-back if unable.

3.3. OTHER INFORMATION


On first contact with APP, transmit only callsign, altitude passing and assigned
SID, for all other ATC units, transmit only callsign.
ACFT passing 1000’ to change over to CHENNAI Approach/Departure, unless oth-
erwise specified by ATC Tower.
