GEOSYNTHETICS PRODUCT KNOWLEDGE

1.0 GEOSYNTHETICS

Geosynthetic Clay Liner

- Most Geosynthetic Clay liner (GCL) available in the market today is produced by sandwiching
bentonite powder with two layers of geotextiles.
- GCL are used to replace natural clay at places when natural clay is not easily available.
- GCL are installed by overlapping and spread bentonite powder at the overlap to create seal.

Geotextile

- Geotextiles are commonly produced in woven and non-woven with weight ranging from 100
g/sq.m. to 3,000 g/sq.m.
- Geotextiles are commonly used in geotechnical applications such as filtration, separation,
reinforcement and protection.
- Installation of geotextile can be by sewing or just overlapping.

2.0 PIPES

HDPE Pressure Pipes

- Widely used in water supply and other corrosive environment due to its excellent chemicals
and UV resistance.
- HDPE pipes are normally produced in 6m and 12m length with diameter ranging from 32mm
to 3,000mm.
- They can be joined together by butt fusion weld or flanges, electro-fusion weld or
compression joins.

HDPE Corrugated Pipes

- Drainage pipes, normally made in single wall and double wall (corrugated outside and smooth
inside). Widely used as sewerage pipes, subsoil drainage, gas release and cable conduits.
