Definition

A research design is a blueprint for conducting the research project .

It details the procedure for obtaining information needed to solve the research problems.

Components research design

Information needed. Design the exploratory, descriptive or causal phases of the research design. Specify the measurement and scaling procedures. Construct and pretest a questionnaire. Specify the sampling process and sample size. Develop a plan of data analysis.

Quasi experimental

In these design the researcher has control over data collection procedures but lack of control over the scheduling of the treatments and also lack of ability to randomized test unit exposure to treatment.
