Objective
....be able to read, prepare and present a detail drawing of a simple steel reinforced concrete structure.

Reinforcement concrete
Concrete
 composite material  excellent compression strength

Reinforcement concrete
Reinforcements
Increase tensile strength, ductility Natural fibre Steel Polymers

Steel reinforcements
Types
Bar and mesh
230R = Plain round bar – hot rolled mild steel 410Y = Temcore – heat treated, surface deformations 450F = Hard drawn wire – prefabricated mesh (fabric)

Detailing reinforcements
Mesh – fabric detail

 Fabric is specified in term of the AS1304 standards.

 Refer to Table 2.6 p2.42 (SB2)
 For detailing – the important information are: Type – e.g. F82  Longitudinal / Cross wire pitch – e.g. 200 / 200 for F82  Longitudinal / Cross wire size – e.g. 8 / 8 mm for F82 ; 12.5 / 8 for F1218
