Magnetic levitation is the latest in transportation technology and has been the interest of many countries around the

world. The idea has been around since 1904 when Robert Goddard, an American Rocket scientist, created a theory that trains could be lifted off the tracks by the use of electromagnetic rails. Many assumptions and ideas were brought about throughout the following years, but it was not until the 1970s that Japan and Germany showed interest in it and began

MEGNETIC LEVITATION
Magnetic levitation, maglev, or magnetic suspension is a method by which an object is suspended with no support other than magnetic fields.Magnetic pressure is used to counteract the effects of the gravitational and any other accelerations. A high-speed rail technology by which a train can travel free of friction at speeds of 480 kilometers (300 miles) per hour or more. The train is suspended on a magnetic cushion about half an inch above an elevated magnetic track, whose moving magnetic field alternately attracts and repels magnets mounted on the train, which is pushed and pulled along by this process.

We

use idea that to identical poles will repel. For that purpose we use electromagnet. This coil create magnet in iron core but magnet is reverse way generate a current in ring and turn into a little magnet which is simply Lenz law.

A superconductor

is an element, intermetallic alloy, or a compound that will conduct electricity without resistance below a certain temperature. Resistance produces losses in energy flowing through the material. In a closed loop, an electrical current will flow continuously in a superconducting material. Highest temperature found (243.2 C) below 30K E.g. YBa2Cu3O7 (YBCO), Hg (mercury), NbTi

The maglev tracks take up a lot less land, because they are elevated. This also reduces the amount of collisions and accidents. Maglev trains require Less maintenance (no wear because they float over the track) Maglev trains are much faster, because they float over the track eliminating rolling resistance and potentially improving the power efficiency No friction No noise pollution

Cost is major issue when considering maglev trains, especially since they cannot operate on the existing, conventional rails. Guide ways would need to be built in order to make use of this new technology, costing approximately $8.5 billions.

The weight of the electromagnets in the EMS and EDS systems are also an issue. A very strong magnetic field is required to levitate the heavy trains.

Really fast computers- In petaflop(Floatingpoint Operations Per Second, also flop/s)computers. A petaflop is a thousand-trillion floating point operations per second. Today's fastest computing operations have only reached "teraflop" speeds. Maglev Trains- The magnetized coil running along the track, repels the large magnets on the train's undercarriage, allowing the train to levitate

Overall, the sustainability of Maglev is very positive. Although the relative costs of constructing Maglev trains are still expensive, there are many other positive factors that overshadow this. Maglev will contribute more to our society and our planet than it takes away. Considering everything Maglev has to offer, the transportation of our future and our childrens future is on very capable tracks.
