MY FRONT COVER
My front cover was of a girl mid shot wearing casual clothes. The focus of the picture was of her face as this would attract males towards the magazine more. By using casual clothes it allowed my audience to connect with the user more because it relates to what the audience would be expected to wear. My model looks quite calm and the use of nude colours gives you the vibe of the magazine.

FRONT COVER
The model I chose was in the age range of my target audience, this made the magazine more appealing as they can relate to the cover page and pictures more. By having just one person from the band as my front cover it gave the audience an idea of what the main feature of the magazine is going to be about. The images in my magazine are very clear and dont have much going on in the background. This attracts the reader to the magazine as the simple have the image and the text to look at with nothing in the background to distract them. Most magazines do photo shoots like this as it is the best way to attract the reader to the text.

CONTENT PAGE
The content page of my magazine is similar to the layout of my content page as it simply has one big image and some text that allows the reader to know about the cover story and other main highlights of the magazine. This attracts the reader as it allows the reader to know the main features of the magazine. These pages are highlighted on the content page as I think the target audience may find this the most interesting.

DOUBLE PAGE SPREAD

For my DPS I first of all had my text in two columns but I then changed it so that there were three columns of text, this made it look more like a magazine article as they normally have three or more columns. The photo was spread over two pages so that the model would be highlighted from the dark background.

PICTURES
For my pictures I used shoots that allowed me to take sharp pictures where I could adjust the lighting to suit the magazine. I used more than one girl throughout the magazine as I wanted the reader to be attracted to the different girls. As this one was focused on a girl band it appeals to both genders on the female side it could be fashion, how the members dress as they may want to copy their style. And for the male point of view having an attractive female on the magazine may attract them to buy it more.

SPEAKING TO MY AUDIENCE
For most of my magazine I use quite informal text as it allows me to bond with the target audience easier as they are still quite young. However my magazine is portrayed quite formal as the layout is quite simple and neatly placed, like there are no tilted text this would make the magazine more appealing to the older ages in the target audience. In my magazine I wanted to speak more to the audience than have interviews, I wanted the person being interviewed to talk to the audience rather than the audience reading our conversation. This makes the reader more into the article as theyre more involved.

GENDER NEUTRAL
Music is a gender neutral topic a certain gender doesnt have to like a certain type of music. Because of this it should be easier to make my magazine more gender neutral. To make my magazine more gender neutral I had to think of the advantage and disadvantages of some aspects. For example:
My magazine being about girl band I didnt want this to make the male gender not enjoy this as much so I had to think of aspects to talk about such as gig reviews and news involving males bands that they might like to balance it out. I made the model appeal to both genders by having her casually dressed, it also gave the magazine a more alternative look. My colour scheme this appealed to both genders as there was a use of black and white however at the same time it I added some pastel colours to make the magazine come across as more alternative than rock because black and white are seen as rock more. I couldnt use for example just pink and just blue because of colour preferences, some boys would be put off by pink some girls wont like blue

The features of the magazine (e.g. Reviews & news) arent gender specific this will attract both genders as the want to know about their favourite bands.
