Romanians among the warmest and
most hospitable people on Earth.
Romania is also associated with big
names in arts, science and sports.

There are a very large


number of famous scientists in
history.
If a roster of all such
famous scientists were to be
compiled, the work would
become cumbersome.
Hence, we will present you
six romanian scientists, who are
the pride of our country.

Ana Aslan
1897-1988

founded the worlds first Institute of Geriatrics


discovered the first anti-aging remedy, called Gerovital, that has been used in more
than 70 countries around the world
invented a new product called Aslavital, that was used for prophylactic treatments
of cerebral and cardiovascular aging processes, physical and mental asthenia or
memory losses

Mina Minovici
1857-1933

is famous for his extensive research regarding cadaverous alkaloids,


putrefaction, simulated mind diseases, and criminal anthropology
founded the first Institute of Legal Medicine
is the founder of the modern medico-legal system
expanded for the first time the concept of the morgue and created the
term "legal medicine" as a way of organizing research, teaching and
forensic activity

Henri Marie Coand


(June 1886 November 1972)

Born in Bucharest, Coand was the second child of a large family.


In 1909, he travelled to Paris, where he enrolled in the newly founded cole
Nationale Superieure d'Ingenieurs en Construction Aronautique.
He invented a great number of devices, designed a "flying saucer" and discovered
the Coand effect of fluid dynamics.
A Romanian inventor, aerodynamics pioneer and builder of an experimental
aircraft, the Coand-1910 .
Probably the most famous of Coand's discoveries is the Coand Effect.

Emil Racovi
(November 1868 November 1947)

Emil Racovi was born in Iai to the Racovi family of Moldavian boyars.
Was a Romanian biologist, zoologist, speleologist and explorer of Antarctica.
Together with Grigore Antipa, he was one of the most noted promoters of natural
sciences in Romania.
Was the first Romanian to have gone on a scientific research expedition to the
Antarctic, more than 100 years ago, as well as an influential professor, scholar and
researcher.
In 2006, the first Romanian Antarctic exploration station was named Law-Racovi.

We choose to present you those people, because they changed the


past, shaped the modern world and build the future.
Those people made their mark on both the local and international
scenes.
They are just some of many famous Romanians who have lifted
Romania's name worldwide and made a difference in our world. Their
purpose and stories inspired awe if not greatness.

No matter if we speak about scientists who


changed the way people understood the universe, past
and present dynamic leaders, famous writers or artists,
they are simply remarkable individuals!
They have one thing in common: are not easy to
stereotype.
So that, they deserve to remember them every
time we have the chance and to not forget theirs
achievements.
