INTRODUCTION:
 What is Bluetooth ?
 A Short Range Wireless Protocol Device for creating
a Personal Network to Exchange Data between two
or more different mobile devices.
HISTORY:
 Named After the Danish King “HARALD
BLUETOOTH” who united Scandinavian
countries in the 10th century.
 Bluetooth is an Anglicized version of
Danish word “Blåtand”
NAME & LOGO:
 The name “Bluetooth” & its Logo are
trademarked by Bluetooth SIG.
 Bluetooth SIG was formed in 1998.
 The Bluetooth logo was created by merging 2
Germanic runes:
 Hagall: (Latin letter : H)
 Berkanan: (Latin letter : B)
SPECIFICATIONS:
 Bluetooth follows the IEEE Standard as IEEE 802.15.
 Radio Technology : FHSS ( Frequency Hopping Spread
Spectrum )
 It uses License free ISM (Industrial, Scientific & medical)
Band for Communication.
 Operating Frequency : “2.402 + K” GHz ( K = 0……..78 )
 Data Transfer Rate: “732 Kb/s”

 Range - 330 ft ( 100 Metre )

 Piconet :
 A network of max. 8 devices : 1 Master & 7 Slave
 Star Topology
 The Master Node Creates a Piconet & up to 7 Slave nodes
can Join the Piconet.
 Connection states:
 Standby : Device does not Join the Piconet.
 Parked : Device does Join the Piconet, but is known
to the master & can be quickly reactivated.

 Scatternet:
 Scatternet is formed when 2 or More Piconets Overlap.

 A device may serve as slave in multiple Piconets.
