UNDERSTANDING LEARNING
STYLES AND DIFFERENT
KINDS OF LEARNING STYLES

Learning styles or learning style is a characteristic

cognitive, affective and psychomotor behavior, which
acts as an indicator of relative stability for the learners
feel interconnected and react to the learning
environment.

TYPES OF LEARNING STYLES

Visual

Auditory

Kinesthetics

1. Visual (learn by seeing)

For

students who styled visual learning,

which plays an important role is the eye /
vision (visual), in this case the teaching
methods used by teachers should be more
/ focused on the show / media, invite
them to objectss related to the lesson, or
by showing tools directly to students or
described on the board.

2. Auditory (learn by
hearing)
Students who rely on the type of
auditory learning success through the
ear (hearing instrument), for it was
then the teacher should have to pay
attention to students up to the hearing
instrument.

3. Kinesthetic (learn how to

move, work and touching)
Children

who have a kinesthetic learning

style learning through moving, touching,
and doing. Kids like this is hard to sit still
for hours because of their desire for
activity and exploration is very
strong. Students who learn this style of
learning through movement and touch.

Differences of Thinking
Style

Thinking as the conclusion of the matter is

understood that then able to find the
problem solving resulting conclusions and
new findings. Obviously, the conclusion in
the thought process is influenced by the
engineering and manipulation of data and
or notions that are stored in long term
memory of someone.

Impulsive & Reflective

Style

Style impulsive / reflective also referred to as a

conceptual tempo, namely student learning and
thinking styles tend to act quickly and
impulsively or use more time to respond to and
reflect on the accuracy of an answer (Kagan,
1965 in Santrock, 2004: 156). Students who are
more impulsive often make mistakes rather than
student reflective style.

Deep and Shallow Style

Deep learning style is the extent to which
students learn the subject matter in a way to
help them understand the meaning of the
material (style deep). Shallow learning styles
are just looking for anything that needs to
be studied (shallow style). ciate anything
