Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra has been a premier centre for

technical knowledge in the country for over a period of five
decades. The college was established in 1955 at Mesra, Ranchi, by
the philanthropist and industrialist Mr. B. M.Birla with a vision to
be recognized as a world-class learning institution for engineering
and technology.
The college has maintained its position among the top 15
engineering colleges of the country for more than a couple of

BAJA SAE
Baja SAE India is a collegiate

design competition run by the

SAE (Society of Automotive
Engineers) in association with
ARAI (Automobile Research
Association Of India).
The competitionchallenges
students to design, fabricate
and race a rugged single seat,
off-road four-wheel vehicle
intended for sale to a weekend
off-road enthusiast.

Event
takes
place
in
Pithampur, near Indore in last
weekend of January.

Design Evaluation : Different designing aspects evaluated by different

panel of judges.
Marketing Presentation: Involves convincing a fictious firm to take up
your design for mass production.
Cost Presentation: Most economically efficient vehicle is awarded.
Dynamic events
Acceleration test: Min time taken to accelerate for a distance of 150
feet
Manoeuvrability: Min time taken to manoeuvre a track filled of
obstacles ,tight turns, swamp etc.
Hill climb: Min time taken to cover a fixed distance on an incline of
around 45 degrees
Endurance race: Team covering max. no. of laps running the vehicle
