MGNREGA

MNREGS is the worlds largest work guarantee programme and social


security measure that aims to guarantee the right to work as a Legal Right
enacted in 2005.
Aim: To ensure livelihood security in rural areas by providing at least 100
days of wage employment in a year to every household whose adult
members volunteer to do unskilled manual work.
Objectives:
1. Enhancing livelihood security in rural areas (thereby addressing chronic
poverty)
2. Creating durable assets and rural infrastructure (such as roads,
canals,ponds, wells).
