Constructing A Parabola

Given a rectangle ABCD with


vertex E.

Step 1;
Draw the symmetrical axis EF. Divide
AD, DE and EC into four equal parts

Step 2 :
Draw the lines EA, E1, E2 and E3. Draw
vertical lines from 1, 2 and 3 intersecting
at 1-1, 2-2 and 3-3. Repeat the steps for
the symmetrical half.

Step 3 :
Draw the parabolic curve using
a French Curve.

Redraw figure 1, RS is a parabolic curve and QR length is 35 mm. The


position of points P, Q, R and S are as given.
