Working together.

T. Fauzia - 12/16

Our children love to eat fruit and crackers for morning tea every day. This morning
we decided to do something different, instead of crackers we could eat toast and
jam. I got everything ready on the table eg: toaster, a loaf of bread, jam and
margarine. Sana and Waify came to help me they washed their hands before
handling food. All other children after washing their hands, sat around the table. I
put two pieces of bread in the toaster and when it was ready I showed how to
spread jam and margarine over it. Sana watched carefully and said teacher, "I can
do it", so I let her try first. When she spread butter on a few pieces of toast with
margarine Sana explained again to her friends so sweet. Then she gave a turn to
other children. We used two knives and one bread, so that they can learn to be
patient. It was so nice to see them co-operate, took turns and help each other.
Through this activity, Sana learned to spread topping over slices of toast, learn to
control their hand and finger movements, developing confidence, independence
and social skills. Also building up self esteem and learning to help each other. Well
done Sana.
