Selection Procedure for

NJHS
Membership in the National Junior Honor Society of
Barbara Bush Middle School is an honor bestowed upon a
student. Selection for membership is by a Faculty Council
and is based on outstanding scholarship, leadership,
citizenship, service, and character. Once selected,
members have the responsibility to continue to
demonstrate these qualities.
Candidates become members when inducted at a special
ceremony.

A National Junior Honor Society member who transfers


from another school and brings a letter from the former
principal or chapter adviser to the Barbara Bush Middle
School adviser shall be accepted automatically as a
member in this schools chapter. Transfer members must
meet the new chapters standards within one semester in
or order to retain membership.

To be eligible for membership the candidate must be a


second semester seventh or eighth grade student.
Candidates must have been in attendance at Barbara Bush
Middle School the equivalent of one semester.

Candidates must have a cumulative scholastic average


of at least a 90, (5.5) or the equivalent standard of
excellence. Candidates shall then be evaluated on the
basis of service, leadership, citizenship and character.

The selection of each member to the chapter shall be by


majority vote of the Faculty Council.

The selection procedure shall be determined by the


Faculty Council and shall be consistent with all the rules
and regulations of the National Junior Honor Society
