A Artificial heart is a prosthetic device that is surgically placed inside of you.

Replacing you biological heart. This device could permanently replace the heart.

Incase that a heart transplantation is not possible with a patient.

Who:
Paul Winchell was the person who came up with the idea. Although it needed
some work the idea was by him. After him came other designs and other
models that were made better until in was successfully implanted.
When:
A similar invention to the Artificial Heart goes back to the 1940s. But the
first Artificial heart was successfully implanted in 1982.

This device is important because it gave people who thought were going to
die, a new alternative. Gave them a chance to live. Gave people hope. If
this device hadnt been invented a lot o people wouldnt have had the
opportunity of having more time. The device gave them more time. Gave
them a solution to the problem they were facing.
