Right-Handed Lay-up
Try to dribble as close to the goal as you can with your
right hand. You want to approach the basket in a
manor that it make the shot easy. If you take an bad
approach or get to close under the basket you will have
a bad shot
Its best to start in the center of the lane or on the right
side of the lane.
Stepping toward the basket
When your close to the basket step with your right foot
and dribble with your right hand to get close to the
basket
Jump off of your left foot
Now that you have step with right foot, your next
step is the left and jump toward the goal.
Jump straight up toward the basket-dont lean
back, keep your balance.
Bring the ball to your chest
Right arm and Right leg
Your right arm and right leg
should move as one.
When you raise your right leg
your right arm should be getting
in the shooting motion.
Keep your eye on the prize
Stay focus on the basket.
As you go through your earlier motion keep
your eyes on the goal.
The objective is to place the ball on the
right side of the square.
Your need to put a little spin on the ball
and soft touch.
Your success level will be better if you
place the ball on the square.

Reflection and feedback
On a sheet of paper answer these following questions
about left and right handed lay-ups.
1. What leg should you jump off of when doing a right
handed lay-up.
2. What part of the backboard should you aim for when
conducting a left hand lay-up?
3. What leg do you jump off of when conducting a left
handed lay-up?
4. Where should the ball be when you start jumping
toward the goal?
You are now ready to do left and
right handed lay-ups.
