Gymnastics in Russia

Brief background on gymnastics
Thereare two types of gymnastics in Russia -
Rhythmic and Artistic.
Rhythmic gymnastics is a sport done on an un-
sprung floor.
It
is a combination of ballet and gymnastics, it can
be done individually and as part of a group.
Individually a hoop, ball and ribbon are used.
At the moment it is only an Olympic sport for female.
Artisticgymnastics is the more common gymnastics type
in Russian.
This gymnastics is dominated in by both men and women.
Women compete on four pieces
of apparatus; Uneven Bars, Floor Exercise, Vault and Beam
Men compete on 6 pieces; Pommel
Horse, Rings, High Bar, Floor Exercise, Vault and Parallel Bars.
The success rate in both Rhythmic and Artistic gymnastics is
high
WHAT HAPPENS AT

environments and the right nutrition for gymnasts
staying at the camp.
At Krugloye gymnasts can spend a long period of time
here whilst preparing for international competitions.
Gymnasts train 6 hours a day everyday while here or
even more.
The on site doctors are there to give them and
examinations twice a week.
Masseurs are there to greet the a relax sore muscles
after harsh conditioning.
RECOGNISABLE GYMNASTS
Aliya Mustifina was the 2010 All-
Around World Champion. She was a
gold medalist on the uneven bars at
the Olympics in 2012 and 2016
Viktoria Komova
was the 2011 Olympics World
Champion. She as a silver medalist in
the all-around in the 2012 Olympics.
She was also part of a 4 way tie on
the uneven bars in the 2015 world
championships.
