PHONOVISUAL is ...
An organized and systematic approach to
teaching sound/symbol relationship
An effective tool for teaching skills that in
combination with any reading program
enables students to use and understand all
language forms (reading, writing, spelling,
and speech).
An affordable program that enables you to
maintain a high quality Reading and
Language Arts Program and to supplement
your current reading program.
INITIAL CONSONANTS
Children learn to recognize, read, write
and "say" consonant sounds in
connection with key-word pictures on
the chart. Children make transition
form initial sounds in key-word pictures
to initial sounds in the vocabulary of
their own books.
INITIAL & FINAL CONSONANTS
Children learn to listen through a word,
identifying and writing first and last
sounds, and applying this knowledge
their reading.
VOWELS
Children learn to recognize and produce all vowel
sounds on the Chart.
Children learn to recognize and analyze consonant
blends.
Children learn to apply phonetic skills to reading,
writing, and spelling of words using all primary
spellings on the Vowel Chart.
The method focuses on the basic
sound as represented by the letters of
the alphabet rather than merely letter
naming the syllable reading or word
calling right at the very heart of
teaching by the teacher and learning
by the children.
