HARI GAWAI

Hari Gawai is celebrated by the Dayaks in Sarawak on

1st June.

It is a harvest festival.

There are competitions for blowpipe shooting and the

traditional Iban dance (ngajat).

There is also a beauty contest (pekit kumang gawai).

They serve their guests tuak (rice wine) and

penganan (a traditional cake).


TADAU KAAMATAN
Tadau Kaamatan is a harvest festival.

The Kadazandusuns in Sabah celebrate it on

31st May.

They hold beauty contests (unduk ngadau) and

dance the sumazau.

They eat hinava and drink tapai (rice wine)
