The colors above have been pre-selected for the MagnetBoard layouts. To apply, select one of the
shapes above and perform a “Copy Style” operation (format menu), then “paste Style” onto other
shapes as needed.

If you’re doing extensive work with this theme, open your color palette, highlight each one in turn:
select the Color Fill in the Inspector, and drag the resulting color down to your color well (bottom of
the color palette) for quick & easy access.

Plain Magnets
To use any of the magnets included here,
simply Copy & Paste as needed. The large
sizes shown are HD placement size, and
you can safely scale down to any
reasonable size desired from there: the
first accent step scale is shown.

In general, we recommend grouping

(Arrange > Group) the magnet and the
shape/object it will associate with for easy
movement/rotation when working up
freeform layouts.

Overlays
You can build a common circular photo
magnet style easily using one of the
shape+overlay combos. Select the amount
of highlight that you’d prefer (less
highlight toward top, more toward bottom)
- replace the photo placeholder then
align/group the two objects to create the
finished photo magnet.

Stroke Effects
These built-in line/picture-frame strokes
are a quick match for other common photo
magnet styles - simply replace the
placeholder image and scale/rotate as
needed for your particular use, or Copy
Style and paste the effect onto a photo
you’ve already placed.
Standard Photo
Group
The standard photo group is a combination of
effects/layers, not a single picture-frame+ magnet
like the other built-ins (slides 6-7). We did this for
a few reasons, most of which have to do with
iWork’s lack of a transportable picture-frame
system* and the resultant need to push the magnet
away from the photo for layering conformity. You
can use the techniques on slides 7-9 for true
magnet-on-frame uses, but if you’d prefer to stick
to the running style you can use these objects as
your starting point. Replace the placeholder photo,
then group the photo and the surrounding
shape/style set (but not the magnet) - you can then
scale the raw photo as needed. Align with and
scale the magnet if needed - then group all of them
for easy freeform movement.

*A custom picture-frame stroke will currently not transfer with your

file but would have to be installed on each machine the presentation
was opened on. Oy.

Magnets
To add a magnet directly to the photo edge
and make them both a moveable/scalable
group on slide level you’ll need to work with
slide-level combos like the ones shown here.
These differ a bit from the standard style used
in the photo-oriented master slides and are
better suited to quick modification on
freeform layouts or when used as additional
accents.

Photo Strips
Photo Strips are a great way to pull
photos/color/texture samples into a contained
group. The backing effect + magnet are
grouped here, but can be ungrouped and
expanded if you prefer to use a different
photo aspect/proportion or otherwise modify
them.

Once you’re replaced the placeholder photos

be sure to group the pictures with the Strip
for ease of combined movement/scaling.
Paper +
Magnets
Lorem Ipsum
The combination of native-effect and graphic
elements used to build the running “paper” in the
theme is not particularly graceful when it comes
to scaling/modifying. When building freeform
layouts we highly recommend going with one of
these deconstructed styles - each of these is a
simple magnet + frame-style combo, so grab the
style you’d like to use and scale/modify to the
size or position you have in mind. Once you’ve
got everything in place, group with the magnet to
make it easier to move the pieces as a combined
whole.

Aged Paper
Aged Paper provides a great
contrast to the crisp white style of
the running native-effect based
paper styles.

Stack multiple sheets together as

needed: the white-ish sheet is a
great way to add contrast between
mutliple layers.
Large

Stickies
Stickies don't technically require magnets -
use with or without as desired. Both fonts
used here are installed by iWork itself or
resident in any OS X system - but you can
customize them even further with specific
fonts or ink colors as needed.

Small
Color Chips
You can use a straightforward shape +
stroke approach to build the color chip
effect. Select the stand-alone shape and
change the fill to a color of your choice
(you can also jump to another picture-
frame stroke style via the inspector if you’d
like a less formal style - a couple of
suggested alternates are shown). Once the
chip is set, grab one of the small magnets
and Arrange > Group the magnet and shape
together for easy movement/rotation.

Word Tiles Lorem Ipsum

Magnetic Word Tiles are a running staple
of the format that are a snap to create/use
in Keynote. Choose an appropriate size for
your presentation - we’ve provided a few Lorem Ipsum
key scales here, but you can modify the
size as needed by adjusting the font size to
your target and reducing or enlarging the
shape as needed to create the general trim

Lorem
shape.
